WAVEFORM MONITOR EXT SYNC EXT S/C VECTORSCOPE Figure 5-1 Connections for System Timing NOTE: If the switcher is equipped with "Feature Package 1", the PGM output can be used in system timing. It is necessary to switch the "PROC" amp off in order to do so. Switching "PROC" off disables sync and burst re-insertion, the feature which is used to mask minor timing errors. Instructions for enabling and disabling PROC may be found in this section under "Alternate Functions". The switcher's standard diagnostic modes and optional set up modes, accessed through the "MODIFY" button, are described in this section. A full account of all the switcher's alternate modes and functions is found in the FS00 Operator's Manual. FS00 Installation Manual 5-1 Diagnostic and Set Up Modes SYSTEM SET UP AND TIMING DIAGNOSTIC and SET UP MODES The MODIFY Button The switcher's standard diagnostic modes and optional alternate operating modes are accessed through the MODIFY button feature. The MODIFY button is located in the AUTO TRANSITION module on the switcher control panel, as shown in Figure 5-2 below. The functions and modes controlled by the MODIFY button are identified on the control panel by push-button designations silk-screened in italic letters above certain push-buttons. AUTO TRANSITION MLE DSK FADE 100 MODIFY FRAMES SEL 10 1 EDIT ON SET Figure 5-2 MODIFY Button Location FS00 Installation Manual 5-2 Diagnostic Modes SYSTEM SET UP AND TIMING Diagnostic Modes The standard FS00 switcher has two diagnostic modes, DIAG1 and DIAG2, that may be used for operational checks on the control panel and frame electronics. These modes function as follows. DIAG1: Switch Echo Test Pressing any button causes testing of portions of the control panel and frame electronics and software. A successful result causes the lamp or LED in the button pressed to illuminate. Enter this mode by pressing MODIFY and then the DIAG1 button on the KEY bus. 2) Press one of the buttons on the KEY bus having the desired function marked above the button (as shown in Figure 5-3), or one of certain other similarly marked buttons such as WIPE LIMIT and LEARN KEYS in the MLE Transition module. 3) Perform other operations required by the particular function selected. This may involve secondary selections on the PST bus push-buttons or use of the Auto Transition display and controls. The units SET button of the Auto Transition display is used to cycle from one state to the other within a mode. NOTE: Throughout the procedures, the bottom row of crosspoint push-buttons will be referred to as the PST bus even though one of the alternate modes PGM/PST Bus Reverse, allows the PGM and PST busses to be reversed. Regardless of this bus interchange, the particular push-buttons on the bottom row retain their alternate functions. 4) In most cases, the MODIFY mode is abandoned or terminated by pressing the MODIFY button a second time. When the MODIFY mode is terminated, the system will return to normal operation with all panel indications restored to the condition that existed before the MODIFY mode was entered. FS00 Installation Manual 5-6 Alternate Functions SYSTEM SET UP AND TIMING Alternate Functions INIT - Default All Parameters The "INIT - Default All Parameters" mode stores the current switcher set up condition in all 12 switcher memory locations and resets all programmable functions in the switcher to the default states, as listed earlier. Figure 5-3 below shows the KEY and PST bus push-buttons to select to enable this mode. IMPORTANT: Because this mode is destructive, an escape has been provided in case it is accidentally enabled. To avoid resetting, press the MODIFY button again after entering this mode. [. . . ] Not enough delay causes a line to the left; too much delay produces a line to the right. This error is corrected by properly setting the appropriate delay switches on the 2210-44 circuit board. These switches are located as shown in Figure 6-6 on the following page. The switches are configured as follows: S1A = 100 ns S2A = 400 ns S3A = 10 ns S4A = 40 ns S1B = 200 ns S2B = 800 ns S3B = 20 ns S4B = 80 ns Setting a switch "on" adds the indicated amount of delay to the chroma key timing.
