[. . . ] IN PREPARATION FOR THE REQUIRED OPERATING SYSTEM ALL CONFIGURABLE SERVER COMPONENTS ARE IDENTIFIED AND THE NECESSARY TOOLS AND DRIVERS ARE PROVIDED AUTOMATICALLY. Installation Manager Functions The Installation Manager offers two deployment modes "Typical" and "User-defined" for different cases of operation: Standard configuration parameters are preset and ServerView software components are also automatically installed in the typical installation. User-defined deployment makes it possible to configure the system and the OS installation down to the very last detail. The emerging installation description file can be used to install other servers with an indentical configuration on an unattended basis. In both operating modes the user is taken through the configuration on a step-by-step basis by the Wizard and protected against operating errors at the end of every input phase by plausibility checks. [. . . ] Driver configuration The Installation Manager contains drivers for all supported operating systems. Non-conforming system components The Installation Manager detects PRIMERGY system components which are not supported by the selected operating system and installs the respective drivers automatically. Windows Server Installation to an iSCSI target via iSCSI Nic: Windows Server 2003: Subsequent to a standard Windows installation to a local HDD the OS just installed can be transferred to a previously configured iSCSI target using a utility program available in Installation Manager. Windows Server 2008: Direct installation of OS into the preconfigured iSCSI LUN. Windows Server Installation to an iSCSI target via an iSCSI NIC: Windows Server 2003 and 2008 can be installed directly onto a preconfigured ISCSI target. Boot via USB stick For that purpose the DVD 1 image must be copied to a bootable USB stick. A detailed description can be found in the ServerView Installation Manager's manual at chapter 3. 2.
