[. . . ] Some available PC Cards: s s s s s s s WARNING Do not insert a PC Card into a slot if there is water or any other substance on the card as you may permanently damage the card, your LifeBook, or both. Zoomed Video cards (Type II, Slot 1 only). Local area network (LAN) cards (Type II). Other PC Cards that conform to PCMCIA 2. 1 or CardBus standards. For further information, refer to the instructions supplied with your PC Card. 1. See your PC Card manual for specific instructions on the installation of your card. Some PC Cards may require your LifeBook to be Off while installing them. Make sure there is no PC Card currently in the slot. Insert your PC Card into the slot, with the product label facing up. Push the card into the slot firmly until it is seated in the opening. You will hear a click and the Eject button will pop away from your LifeBook. Flip the Eject button towards the front of your LifeBook. Lock the PC Card into the slot by sliding the Lock button toward the front of your LifeBook. INSTALLING PC CARDS PC Cards are installed in the PC Card slot. To install a PC Card(s), follow these easy steps: WARNING Installing or removing a PC Card(s) during your LifeBook's shutdown or bootup process may damage the card and/or your LifeBook. 47 LifeBook C Series ­ Section Four REMOVING PC CARDS To remove a PC Card(s), follow these easy steps: CAUTION Windows has a shutdown procedure for PC Cards that must be followed before removing a card. (Please review your operating system manual for the correct procedure) 2. Unlock the PC Card from the slot by sliding the Lock button toward the rear of your LifeBook. Flip the Eject button towards the back of your LifeBook until it is fully extended, and then push it in until it is flush with the LifeBook. This will push the PC Card slightly out of the slot allowing you to remove the card. See your PC Card manual for specific instructions on removing your card. Some PC Cards may require your LifeBook to be in Suspend Mode or Off while removing them. POINT If the dialog box states that the device cannot be removed, you must save all of your open files, close any open applications and shut down your LifeBook. Once your LifeBook has been shutdown, you must turn Off the power using the power switch. If the PC Card(s) has an external connector and cable, do not pull the cable when removing the card. 48 Memory Upgrade Module Memory Upgrade Module Your Fujitsu LifeBook comes with 64MB or 128MB high speed Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM) factory installed. To increase your LifeBook's memory capacity, you may install an additional memory upgrade module. The memory upgrade must be a dual-in-line (DIMM) SDRAM module.
