[. . . ] Info-click on the Mastaba at any time for a progress report on the project. Monuments Pyramids Pyramids are the largest and most complex structures you will build. They require a large amount of empty land and take years to construct. But, with the right amount of raw materials and brute labor, your Pyramid will soon reach towards the sky. The most elaborate Pyramids are part of a larger Pyramid Complex. In addition to the Pyramid, the Complex includes a Mortuary Temple, a Valley Temple and a Causeway. At the Mortuary Temple, located on the eastern face of the Pyramid, the deceased is worshiped and offerings are made to ease his existence in the afterlife. The long Causeway connecting the Valley Temple in the east to the Mortuary Temple in the west 135 Pyramid Construction. This Pyramid has begun Phase II of its construction. Peasants have cleared and leveled the land and the tomb has been cut. Now, stonemasons are awaiting delivery of stone to continue Pyramid construction. 136 Monuments represents the deceased's journey from the living world to the world of the dead and mimics the journey of the sun. In the Valley Temple, located on the Nile, the deceased's body is prepared for his journey. Construction workers know exactly how these buildings fit together, so you won't need to worry about placing the individual buildings. In fact, construction workers, under the direction of the Foreman, know everything about building Pyramids and Pyramid Complexes. Once you choose a location for your monument, construction workers handle the rest, as long as you provide them with what they need. A Pyramid is built in a few basic but time consuming phases. Monuments print is red, it means that you cannot build in that location. If the footprint is green, then you can place the Pyramid in the location you've chosen. Click the mouse button to assign the Pyramid's location. Once you do, you will see stakes marking the corners of the monument. Remember, if you are building a Pyramid Complex, the Valley Temple must be adjacent to the water on a straight piece of coastline. Because Pyramid Complexes must be on the west side of the Nile, the Valley Temple must always be to the east of the Pyramid. To help you consider a chosen location, press the "M" key on the keyboard to freeze the monument footprint You don't have to clear trees or other removable terrain before placing the Pyramid. However, if buildings obstruct your chosen Pyramid site, you have to demolish the buildings yourself. [. . . ] Wadi: an Arabic word meaning dry river bed, wadis were often used as roads and were the sites of rich mineral deposits. 261 mastaba: an arabic word for bench, mastabas are oblong-shaped tombs used particularly during pre-Dynastic times and the Old Kingdom. Pyramids are believed to have evolved from mastabas. natron: a type of salt found in the Nile Delta and used during the embalming process to dry the corpse. Nilometer: a device, usually a pillar of stone or a staircase descending into the river, used to measure the height of the Nile. [. . . ]
