We recommend running ScanDisk, Disk Defragmenter, and Disc Cleanup. ScanDisk searches your hard drive for lost allocation units as well as crosslinked files and directories. Disk Defragmenter ensures that your data is sorted properly. [. . . ] Start the Windows 95/98 operating system. N If the SimCity 3000 Unlimited CD is already in your CD drive, click the Windows Start button. Select Programs\Maxis\SimCity 3000 Unlimited and then click the Visit SimCity Exchange icon in that folder. You will be prompted to connect to the Internet, and can continue to access SimCity Exchange. NOTE: If you installed SimCity 3000 Unlimited to a different folder in the Start Menu, go to that folder and click the Visit SimCity Exchange icon. N If the SimCity 3000 Unlimited CD is not already in your CD drive, insert the CD in your CD drive. The Autorun menu appears. NOTE: If the Autorun menu does not automatically appear, click the Start button on your Windows 95/98 taskbar, then click Run. . . At the Run dialog box, type d:\launcher\launcher. exe, then click OK. (Substitute the correct letter of your CD drive if other than `d:'). You will be prompted to connect to the Internet, and can continue to access SimCity Exchange. If you are connected to the Internet while you are playing the game, you will be informed of these updates automatically. If you would like to manually check for updates, use the shortcut to SimCity Updates provided in the Windows Start menu. You will need to be connected to the Internet, and have completed online registration (see instructions on p. 5), in order to find and download these updates.
