GPS 35 PC
The GARMIN GPS 35 PC is designed for easy installation and initialization.  [. . . ] Mounting the receiver in the highest possible location usually works best. Electrical Connections Your GPS 35 PC features a standard DB-9 serial connector and cigarette lighter plug for connection to your PC serial data port and 12 volt DC power source. Plug the cigarette lighter plug into a 12 vDC receptacle,  and connect the 9-pin D connector to the serial port of your PC. Note that the cigarette lighter plug has a user-replaceable in-line fuse to protect the GPS. The DB-9 connector uses the following pin-out format: PIN 2: Data Transmit PIN 3: Data Receive PIN 5: Signal Ground Initialization Once you apply the correct power to the GPS for first-time use,  it will begin searching for satellites in AutoLocateTM mode. This process will initialize the receiver,  and should compute your position in no more than 5 minutes. After the GPS has been initialized,  you will usually acquire a fix within a minute. If you have trouble acquiring a fix or losing satellite signals,  double check the installation to verify that the antenna is correctly installed with a clear view of the sky.
