[. . . ] This setting enables more accurate readings from the battery gauge on the Dashboard Page (see page 27). Beeper - Allows you to determine when the internal beeper sounds: Key and Message, Message Only, or None. The beep confirms that a button has been pressed or indicates a message. Distance Units - Allows you to select the desired units of measure for distance in Miles or Kilometers. If you select Kilometers, the speed will be shown in Kilometers per Hour and the elevation will be shown in meters. `General' File Tab 34 Reference `Alarms' File Tab (top right picture) `Alarms' File Tab Approaching Waypoint Alarm - Provides an alarm message once you are within a set time (choices range from 15 seconds to five minutes) from your turn or destination waypoint. As you approach the waypoint, a message occurs when your estimated arrival time is within the alarm time entered. Speed Alarm - Provides an alarm message as a reminder when your speed exceeds a preset limit. To enable/disable the speed alarm: 1. Highlight the `Speed Alarm' field and press the ENTER key. Select On or Off (as desired) and press the ENTER key. If enabling the alarm, highlight the speed field and press the ENTER key. Enter the desired alarm speed using the ROCKER keypad (see bottom right picture) and press the ENTER key. `Alarms' File Tab Setting the Speed Alarm 35 Reference `Time' File Tab `Time' File Tab (see top left picture) Time Format - Allows the current time to be displayed using a 12 or 24-hour clock. GMT Offset - Used to determine the current local time. To enter a time zone: 1. Use the ROCKER keypad to move down the page to select and highlight `GMT Offset'. `Time' File Tab 2. Press the ENTER key to modify the GMT Offset. Select the desired offset direction (+ or -). + indicates that the local time zone is ahead of gmt and - indicates that the local time zone is behind gmt. Use the Time Offset chart provided in Appendix G on page 72 to select the appropriate offset. Enter the desired offset amount (in hours and minutes) using the ROCKER keypad (bottom left picture) and press the ENTER key. The `Current Time' value will change to reflect your entry. Current Time, Current Date - Display the current time and date based on the settings made above and the information provided by the GPS satellites received. Sunrise, Sunset - Display the sunrise and sunset times for the current day of the year, based on your current location. Selecting an Offset Amount 36 Reference `Comm Port' File Tab (top right picture) `Comm Port' File Tab Serial Data Format - Allows you to control the input/output format used when connecting the StreetPilot to external devices. GARMIN Data Transfer - the proprietary format used to exchange waypoint, route, and track log data with a PC or with another StreetPilot. NMEA Out - supports the input/output of standard NMEA 0183 version 2. 0 data. [. . . ] Track Log - A set of plotted points which, when displayed on the map, show where you have traveled. Sometimes known as a `breadcrumb trail'. Waypoint - A specific location on the earth. A waypoint can be used as the destination for a Direct Goto, or as part of a route. [. . . ]
