Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] DI8A Operating Manual Genelec DI8A Active Balancer Description The Genelec DI8A Active Balancer is designed to convert an unbalanced line signal to a balanced line signal, thereby reducing its susceptibility to electronic interference. The DI8A has eight independent signal channels. [. . . ] · Do not expose the DI8A to dripping or splashing. Do not place any objects filled with liquid, such as vases on the DI8A or near it. No naked flame sources, such as candles, should be placed on the DI8A. Servicing and adjustment must only be performed by qualified service personnel. Opening the DI8A is strictly prohibited except by qualified service personnel. Always use a mains power connection with protective earth. Failing to do this may lead to personal injury. Installation We recommend that you install the DI8A close to the signal source, so that you can keep the unbalanced input lines as short as possible. The DI8A can be attached into a 19" rack using the rack ears included in the kit or placed on a shelf. Before connecting any cables, ensure that all equipment is powered down and the mains voltage selector on the left side of the DI8A has been set to your local mains voltage. Connect the unbalanced signal cables from the program source to the RCA input connectors on the back panel of the DI8A and the balanced output cables from the correspondingly numbered XLR connectors on the DI8A to the active speakers or power amplifiers. Note that channel 8 has duplicated outputs 8a and 8b. This allows connecting two subwoofers to the LFE channel of a surround sound system. Gain adjustment The +6 dB gain adjustment feature allows the user to increase the output level from the DI8. This may be needed if the output from the main preamp/processor is found insufficient to drive the system loudspeakers to their full output capability. This situation should occur rarely though, and the feature should not be used unless sure that maximum gain has been reached on the main preamp/processor.
