Manual abstract: user guide GRAUPNER TURBOMAT 4

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] The charger must be used with the original cables supplied. The charge outputs and connecting leads must not be modified, extended, connected to each other in any way, nor be wound or coiled up when the charger is in use. Protect the charger from direct sunshine, dust, damp and rain. â· Avoid short-circuits between the connectors, the charge sockets and the car bodywork, as the unit is not protected against such misuse. [. . . ] The aluminium ribs on the case are designed to cool the unit, and must not be covered or obstructed in any way. Ensure that heat can dissipate freely, and leave the unit to cool down for a while at the end of each rapid-charge process. â· The 4 A charge current stage may only be used for 6-cell and 7-cell NC packs. â· Before charging check the following point: are all connections in good order (no intermittent contacts)? Please bear in mind that rapid-charging NC batteries may be dangerous. The charger is suitable for charging the following types of battery: NC packs (AE, AEL, AR, CUP, DRL, KR, RC, RS, RSE, RSH, SC, SCE, SCR) with a capacity of 0. The number before the slash (/) indicates the number of cells, and allows you to calculate the pack's voltage (single cell = 1. Note Read the instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer regarding charging, and keep to the charge currents and charge times recommended. Never attempt to rapid-charge a battery unless the manufacturer explicitly states that it is suitable for a high charge current. Please remember that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have undergone several charge / discharge cycles, and with new packs you may find that the charger terminates the charge prematurely. It is up to you to check that the Turbomat 4's automatic charge termination circuit works correctly with your batteries, and that the pack is actually fully charged before you use it. Charge adaptor The charge adaptor supplied should be clamped to the screw terminals which you will find on the side of the charger, marked AUS (OUT) +, AUS (OUT) -. Take care to maintain correct polarity: red = positive terminal (AUS +), black = negative terminal (AUS -). If the connector on the charge adaptor does not match that on your battery, then you can easily make a new one from any Graupner charge lead by cutting it down to a length of no more than about 80 mm. Always use exactly matching connectors, i. Of the same type and make as fitted to your batteries. The yellow LED (ready) will glow to indicate that the charger is ready for work. Caution: The 4 A current setting may only be used with 6-cell and 7-cell NC packs. Never charge a 4-cell or 5-cell pack at 4 A; the charger will overheat and be irreparably damaged. NORMAL CHARGING: if the green monitor lamp (normal) glows, the battery is already being charged at a low trickle current (pulsed charge). [. . . ] Using the charger via a car cigarette lighter socket If your car is fitted with a cigarette lighter socket, you can connect the charger to it directly. Before you do this please ensure that your cigarette lighter socket can cope with currents of up to 6 A. You will find this information in the operating manual supplied with your car. This method of powering the charger has the advantage that it is virtually impossible to connect it with reverse polarity. [. . . ]
