Extension Cords: We do not recommend that you use an extension cord. 7 HM06R750 manual 10/22/01 11:16 AM Page 9 English Checking Microwave Oven 1) Place glass tray and turntable trim inside the oven cavity. 2) Place an 8 Ounce cup of water on the glass tray. 4) Set cooking power to "HIGH" position. (See the oven turn on) 6) After the set time, a bell will ring and the oven will shut off. 7) If oven is operating normally, the water should by very hot. Note: If lower cooking power is selected, it will take longer to heat the water. Operating Your Microwave Oven 1. After placing food in the oven, select the desired cooking power level. Once cooking is complete a bell will signals you and the interior light will go off. Note: If door is opened while cooking, the microwave oven will stop. To restart, simply close the door. 8 HM06R750 manual 10/22/01 11:16 AM Page 10 English Defrosting The Food The defrost setting on your microwave oven enables easy and convenient thawing of frozen foods. The microwave energy heats the outer surface of the food and this heat is moved slowly to the center. In addition to defrosting, this defrosting setting can also be used for slower and gentler cooking. Soups stews, and some sauces can be cooked "Defrost" to blend flavors and tenderize meat. Foods with a high-milk, cheese or egg content may be cooked on the DEFROST setting to prevent curdling or toughness. Place food in the microwave oven and close the door. Place the power select control at the DEFROST position.
