Check the procedure and make sure you use the same cuvette for reference (zero) and measurement. Over Range: A flashing value of the maximum concentration indicates an over range condition. [. . . ] 5· Add 1. 0 mL of HI 93740B-0 0. 3% PAN solution to each beaker. 6· Press READ/ /TIMER and `'ZERO'' message is displayed. Press aggain and hold READ/ /TIMER for three seconds and the display will show a countdown prior to adding reagent C or, alternatively, wait for 15 minutes. 7· Then, in both cases add one packet of HI 93740C-0 EDTA reagent to each beaker, cap and swirl to mix until complete dissolution. 8· Fill one cuvette up to the 10 mL mark with blank. 9· Place the cuvette into the cuvette holder and ensure that the notch on the cap is positioned securely into the groove. 10·Press ZERO/CFM and the lamp, cuvette and detector icons will appear on the display, depending on the measurement phase. After a few seconds the display will show "-0. 0-". The meter is now zeroed and ready for measurement. 11·Fill a second cuvette up to the 10 mL mark with the reacted sample. 12·Insert the second cuvette into the holder and ensure that the notch on the cap is positioned securely into the groove. In all cases the lamp, cuvette and detector icons will appear on the display, depending on the measurement phase. 14·The instrument directly displays concentration 11 in mg/L of nickel on the LCD. Note: A temperature above 30 °C may cause turbidity. In this case, before zeroing and taking readings, add 2-3 drops of Dispersing agent (HI 93703-51) to each cuvette and swirl until complete dissolution of turbidity. INTERFERENCES: Interference may be caused by: Co2+ must not be present Al3+ above 32 mg/L Cd2+ above 20 mg/L Cr3+ above 20 mg/L Cu2+ above 15 mg/L Fe3+ above 10 mg/L Mg2+ above 400 mg/L Mo6+ above 60 mg/L Pb2+ above 20 mg/L 9· At the end of the measurement the display will show the validation standard value. The reading should be within specifications as reported on the CAL CHECKTM Standard Certificate. If the value is found out of specifications, please check that the cuvettes are free of fingerprints, oil or dirt and repeat validation. If results are still found out of specifications then recalibrate the instrument. 9 11·Then the date of last calibration (e. g. : "01. 08. 2009") appears on the display, or "01. 01. 2009" if the factory calibration was selected before.
