The DVD 30 is a multipurpose DVD player, capable of playing both DVD-Audio and DVD-Video discs and conventional CD audio discs with the highest fidelity and access to future software upgrades via the Internet. Note: You can also adjust the level of all speakers without the Test Tone. In that case, leave the Test Tone set to OFF. 5. When the front right is highlighted on the screen, you will hear the test tone move from the left front speaker to the front right speaker. Press the ( >) to move the cursor to the right column on the screen, and adjust the level of the front right by using the (/¤ ) buttons, until the level is equal to the level of the left front speaker. 6. Press the ( < ) and (¤ ) button to move to the CENTER, and continue to adjust the remaining individual speakers as described above. Note that the adjustments should be made with the (/¤ ) buttons on the remote control of the DVD 30 only, NOT with the main volume controls on your A/V Receiver. When all channels have the same output level, press ( < ) two times to go back to the player's AUDIO MENU. SYSTEM SETUP 21 System Setup Delay Settings Due the different distances between the listening position for the front channel speakers and the surround speakers, the amount of time it takes for sound to reach your ears from the front or surround speakers is different. You may compensate for this difference through the use of the delay settings to adjust the timing for the specific speaker placement and acoustic conditions in your listening room or home theater. The factory setting is appropriate for most rooms, but some installations create an uncommon distance between the front and surround speakers that may cause the arrival of front channel sounds to become disconnected from surround channel sounds. The DVD 30 also includes a separate setting for the center channel delay mode, since the discrete nature of these signals makes the location of the center channel speaker more critical. To calculate the delay for the center channel, measure the distance from the preferred listening position in the center of the room to both the center channel speaker and either the left or right speaker. To change the delay settings, press the (KL) Buttons to select CENTER. Press ENTER or (N) to move the cursor to the right of the screen. Once done, press ENTER and (L) to set the delay for the surrounds. The rating levels The five standard US rating symbols are "G" (General, level 2), "PG" (Parental Guidance, level 4), "PG13" (Parental Guidance and 13 years old, level 4), "R" (Restricted, level 6) and "NC 17" (from 17 years old, level 7). The DVD 30 will accommodate a total of eight rating steps, as set by the DVD creators. These additional steps allow for more critical control of program playback for all audiences. Levels 7 to 2: DVDs for general audiences/ children can be played.
