In this case, when a voice call or a fax transmission comes in from a number you have specified as a "Junk Number", your fax will break the connection as soon as it receives the calling phone number from the caller ID service (before the second ring). To use this function, set Option Setting 13 to YES as described in Chapter 8, "Optional Settings", and then enter the number in the Anti Junk Number List as described in "Blocking Reception of Unwanted Faxes". Note: This function cannot be used if you are using the Distinctive Ring function. 52 Distinctive Ring Distinctive Ring Important: · To use distinctive ring, you must subscribe to a distinctive ring service from your local phone company. Do not turn on this function if you do not subscribe to a distinctive ring service. · Your fax may not be compatible with some distinctive ring services. Distinctive ring is a service offered by some local telephone companies whereby they assign another number to your regular single line. The second number rings differently from your normal number. If you subscribe to a distinctive ring service, you can set the fax machine to automatically answer when your second number is called. This allows you to use the second number as an exclusive fax number. In other words, the receiving fax machine, not the transmitting fax machine, initiates the transmission. You can use your fax to both poll and be polled by others. Requesting transmission Note: Rapid Dial Keys cannot be used for polling.
