Windows Vista: Sharing public or personal folders Reminder: In Windows Vista, there are two types of folders: personal or local folders and public folders. A personal folder is a folder belonging to a specific user created on the computer, whereas a public folder is a folder that can be shared by any other user of the same computer or the same network. In essence, a public folder is shared, and therefore available to everyone for viewing (the minimum authorization level).
