SOME DOS AND DON'TS ON THE SAFE USE OF EQUIPMENT This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical equipment, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be assured. DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment. [. . . ] Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, heating implements and high temperatures. Avoid serious scratches that could cause the laser pickup to skip. Do not attempt to widen the center hole in the disc. Do not write anything with a ballpoint pen or pencil on the disc (level) surface. 1. Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays or fluid, benzine or thinner to clean compact discs. Such chemicals would irreparably damage the disc's plastic surface. If a disc is suddenly removed from a cold to a hot area, it will not be played due to moisture on the disc surface. Do not use a hair dryer to dry moisture on discs. HANDLING THE DISCS 1. Remove the CD from the Disc tray of your unit, if it is not going to be used for a long period. Keep the disc in a disc case when storing. Do not store the disc where it may be exposed to: A. Press ON/OFF switch on the unit or remote. Press FUNCTION to select the tuner mode. Select the tuning range with the BAND button. Press REW/DN B or FF/UP F for few seconds, then release the button. · The tuner will automatically search for the first transmitter of sufficient strength. · Repeat this procedure if you wish to select another station. To tune to weak stations, briefly depress REW/DN B or FF/UP F continu ously until you read the correct frequency or the reception is at its optimum. Switch to MONO if there is interference noise during FM STEREO reception by pressing FIND/ST. PROGRAMMING OF PRESET STATIONS (For remote control only) 1. Select the tuning range with the BAND button. Tune to the desired station as described under Tuning. [. . . ] key for 2 seconds again to return to the track playing time.
