Before the 5 seconds is up, press DISPLAY a second time to see just the counter. Press DISPLAY a third time to to see the counter on the VCR display as well. Press DISPLAY a fourth time to end the on-screen display. The linear time counter operates only if there is something recorded on the tape. The counter changes to 0:00:00 when the tape is ejected. Marking with the Time Counter If there is one part of the video that you know you are going to want to return to, you can set the time counter to memorize that spot.
