Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] HP Storage Essentials Build 6. 0 Release Notes T4283-96115 © Copyright 2002 - 2008 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L. P. Hewlett-Packard Company makes no warranty of any kind with regard to this material, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. [. . . ] These custom commands will need to be added back to the elements manually. Backup Manager This section provides information about Backup Manager. Backup Details are not Gathered from Multi-homed Hosts if CIM Extension IP is Restricted (IEV-24898) The CIM extensions have the capability of being restricted to listening on and using a particular IP address on multi-homed systems (hosts with multiple IP addresses). Although the host information will be returned, backup information will not be sent back to the management server while the CIM extension is in this type of configuration. Status not Displayed in Topology for Backup Master Server (IEV-24470) The Session Status is not displayed in the Backup Manager Topology for the Backup Master Server Hosts. Filtering on the Backup Running Sessions Page (IEV-24212) Filtering does not function on the Backup Manager Running Sessions Page. If you click on the Show Running Sessions option in Backup Manager and attempt to filter by Backup Manager or Media Manager Status, the items listed will not change. Cannot Sort on Backup Manager Configuration Pages (IEV-22878) It is not possible to sort the tables on the Configuration > Backup > Image, Session, and Media Collection pages. NetBackup Does Not Report Media Information for Disk-based Backups (IEV-17502) NetBackup does not report media information for disk-based backups. Consequently, the Media Used field is blank in Backup Manager. Disk-based Backup Devices are Shown as Physical Tape Libraries in HP Data Protector (SE-2159) Disk-based backup devices are shown as physical tape libraries in HP Data Protector. In Veritas NetBackup, only robotic tape library devices are shown; other backup devices (simple tape drives or disks) are not shown. Chargeback Manager This section provides information about Chargeback Manager. Page 9 "Name Contains" Filter in NAS Chargeback Returns Validation Error (IEV-24695) Attempting to perform a filtering operation while editing NAS information in a storage tier will not work properly if "Names Contained" is specified. You will see a Validation Error on the page, and the items will not be filtered. Creating Virtual Applications for Chargeback Manager on the Host in Topology is Preferred Over Using Chargeback Manager (IEV-24400) Although it is possible to create an Application in the Chargeback Manager feature, these Applications may not be tied to a particular switch fabric and may not be shown or available in some parts of the management server user interface. Create Virtual Applications in the Topology by adding them directly to a host, and use the Virtual Applications in Chargeback Manager. Business Cost Per Hour Field does Not Validate, Needs Refresh (IEV-23401, IEV-24424) In Chargeback Manager the Business Cost per Hour field does not validate the entry. No information is saved, and no error message is given if an inappropriate value is entered into that field. When the values are changed on that page, after you click to save the changes, you must do a page refresh (F5) in order to see the saved values. Chargeback and Backup Applications (IEV-17329) Disk-based backup media is not taken into account when calculating storage-based Chargeback Manager for a backup application. Roles with Chargeback Manager Access (IEV-17053) Roles with only Chargeback Manager access do not permit access to elements, even if the user has access to the Everything organization. Add the System Explorer role to enable access to the various elements. See the user guide for details on creating and editing roles. Incorrect Salvage Cost 'Double Declining Balance' and 'Fixed Declining Balance' depreciation methods do not result in the correct Salvage Cost when the asset is fully depreciated. Brocade Switches Discovered Through SMI-S This section provides information about Brocade switches discovered through SMI-S. Minimum Brocade SMI-S Version Customers managing Brocade switches through SMI-S must upgrade to at least Brocade SMI-S version 120. 6 prior to performing a discovery with Build 6. 0 of the management server. Brocades switches will be marked as "missing" in Build 6. 0 of the management server until the Brocade SMI-S Provider is upgraded to at least 120. 6. Brocade SMI-S Active Zone/Zone Set Does Not Contain Aliases (IEV-23765) When you use Path Provisioning to provision a zone using aliases on a Brocade switch managed through SMI-S, the management server user interface will show you the results of the zoning operation from the active zone set. Although you may have used aliases to create the zones, the active zone set uses actual WWNs, not aliases. This can be misleading, but it is expected in this situation because of the way the Brocade SMI-S provider operates. User Name for Unsecured Brocade SMI-S Switch Shows as "%null#" (IEV-23032) When you discover an unsecured Brocade SMI-S server, the user name will appear as "%null#" in the management server Discovery pages. All Brocade Trunked ISL Ports Show as Primary (IEV-22967) The Brocade SMI-S provider returns all trunked ISL ports as "primary, " and this is what appears in the management server user interface. Although one port is "Trunk Master, " this is not returned by Brocade's SMI-S provider. Brocade has been notified of this issue. HP SIM Discovered Brocade Switches Return "@default1" to Storage Essentials (IEV-22950) Unsecured Brocade SMI-S switches discovered through HP SIM and passed along to Storage Essentials shows the user name "@default1" in Storage Essentials Setup and Details pages. This name is incorrect. Default Fabric Name may not be the WWN of the Primary Switch (IEV-21990) The default fabric name of Brocade switches discovered through SMI-S may not be the primary/principal switch's WWN but instead the WWN of a subordinate switch. Event Manager and Brocade SMI-S (IEV-18811) The severity of events that are generated on a fabric managed through the Brocade SMI-S proxy software is returned as unknown. Cisco Switches Discovered Through SMI-S This section provides information about Cisco switches discovered through SMI-S. Activating a Zone Set Message Incorrect in CISCO (IEV-24570) The "Activating the New Zone Set" message in CISCO SMI-S provisioning contains a reference to an incorrect zone set, a zone set from a different VSAN. The provisioning operation will activate the correct zone set. Events are Not Supported with CISCO SMI-S Switches (IEV-2367) Events ("Indications") from CISCO switches managed through SMI-S are not supported in this release of the management server software. About Error Codes 3 and 4 If a Cisco switch is discovered through SMI-S, the management server returns "Error code 4" as a generic error message when an operation fails on the switch. No further information other than the error code is available to the management server. If an operation fails with "Error code 4", use the native Cisco tools to investigate further. Similarly, when attempting to create a zone set on a switch discovered through SMI-S, the management server may return "Error code 3". Again use the native tools to view the switch configuration after the zoning operation and investigate further. Incorrect Model and Serial Numbers The management server reports incorrect model and serial numbers for Cisco switches discovered through SMI-S. [. . . ] QLogic has been notified of this issue. "You have selected a host that does not have a physical connection to the selected storage system!" (IEV-17761) The message "You have selected a host that does not have a physical connection to the selected storage system!" is displayed if you attempt to create a zone on a switch that is not managed by the management server. This can happen if you select an initiator on a managed array that is physically connected to the unmanaged switch. Red Hat Linux IA64 Hosts do not Return a Serial Number (IEV-17573) Red Hat Linux IA64 hosts may not return a serial number in the host properties tab or in the Asset Summary reports. This is due to an issue in the operating system on the host. If the serial number information is required, install the kernel-utils-2. 4. 13. 99. ia64 package on the Linux host, then remove the access point for the host from the management server Discovery user interface and rediscover the host. Status not Displayed for Oracle Database Instance Control Files (IEV-15425) The status of the Oracle database instance's control files is not shown on the instance properties page. Serial Numbers not returned for CommandView EVA and XP Arrays (IEV-15647) The serial number is not reported for EVA and XP arrays that are managed through CommandView AE. Ignore SAXParseExceptions When Replicating CNT Inrange Switches (IEV-15217) You may see several SAXParseExceptions while replicating CNT/Inrange switches. [. . . ]
