Safety Rules Safe Operation Practices for Ride-On Mowers IMPORTANT: THIS CUTTING MACHINE IS CAPABLE OF AMPUTATING HANDS AND FEET AND THROWING OBJECTS. Be familiar with the controls and the proper use of the equipment. [. . . ] Any attempt by the operator to travel in the reverse direction with the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine unless ignition key is placed in the ROS "ON" position. Backing up with the attachment clutch engaged while mowing is strongly discouraged. Turning the ROS "ON", to allow reverse operation with the attachment clutch engaged, should only be done when the operator decides it is necessary to reposition the machine with the attachment engaged. Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary. uSING THE ROS • Move motion control lever to neutral (N) position. Do not leave the ignition key in the machine when not in use to prevent children and other unauthorized persons starting the engine. Before servicing the engine or cutting unit the following shall be carried out: • Press down the clutch/brake pedal and engage the parking brake lever. € Remove the ignition cable from the plug. Grasp hood at sides, tilt forward and lift off of tractor. NOTE: Periodic maintenance should be performed on a regular basis in order to keep your tractor in good running condition. WARNING: Disconnect spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting before attempting any repair, inspection, or maintenance. Before each use: • Check oil, lubricate pivot points as necessary. € Check to see all bolts, nuts, and cotter pins are in place and secure. € Keep tractor free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage or overheating. Water can enter engine and transmission and shorten the useful life of the machine. Clean Steering Plate: • Clean debris from steering plate. € • TO CHANGE OIL • • • • Oil drain valve Install the drain tube onto the valve. Open drain valve by using a 10 mm wrench turning counterclockwise. After oil has drained completely, close the drain valve turning clockwise. Use the 10 mm wrench to apply a small amount of torque to keep it closed. Remove the drain tube and store in a safe place. As Needed Every 8 hours Every 25 hours Every . [. . . ] € Move the tractor’s attachment clutch control to the “DISENGAGED” position. Turn the ignition key to the STOP position to turn the tractor’s engine off. € Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle adapter to disconnect the adapter from the nozzle washout port. € Move the tractor to a dry area, preferably a concrete or paved area.
