While speaking into the microphone, adjust [VOX Select ANTI VOX in quick set mode. If the receive audio from the speaker toggles the transceiver to transmit during receive, adjust the [ANTI-VOX] to the point where it has no effect. Push [DISPLAY] to exit quick set mode. · Push [MENU] one or more times to select Q5. 26 4 RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT D Optional AT-180 AUTOMATIC ANTENNA TUNER operation The AT-180 automatic antenna tuner matches the IC706MKIIG to the connected antenna automatically. Once the tuner matches an antenna, the variable capacitor angles are memorized as a preset point for each frequency range (100 kHz steps). Therefore, when you change the frequency range, the variable capacitors are automatically preset to the memorized point. MANUAL TUNING During SSB operation on HF bands at low voice levels, the AT-180 may not be tuned correctly. In such cases, manual tuning is helpful. to start manual tuning. · CW mode is selected, a side tone is emitted, and the [TUNER] light flashes; then, the previous mode is selected. For outdoor operation Long wire Push [TUNER] for 2 sec. RWARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! NEVER touch the antenna element while tuning or transmitting. CW The [TUNER] light lights constantly when tuning is NEVER operate the AH-4 without an antenna wire. The tuner and transceiver will be damaged. NEVER operate the AH-4 when it is ungrounded. Transmitting before tuning may damage the transceiver. Note that the AH-4 cannot tune when using a 1/2 long wire or multiple of the operating frequency. Note: The AH-4 can be used for HF bands and the 50 MHz band only. complete. · When the connected wire cannot be tuned, the [TUNER] light goes out, the AH-4 is bypassed and the antenna wire is connected to the antenna connector on the transceiver directly. To bypass the AH-4 manually, push [TUNER]. CONVENIENT · PTT tune function The AH-4 is always tuned when the PTT is pushed after the frequency is changed (more than 1%). This function removes the "push and hold [TUNER]" operation and activates first transmission on the new frequency. This function is turned ON in initial set mode, item 13 (p. 54). 28 4 RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT I Split frequency operation Split frequency operation allows you to transmit and receive on two different frequencies. Split frequency operation uses 2 frequencies, one in VFO A and the other in VFO B.
