IMPORTANT READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before using the transceiver. NEVER connect the transceiver to a power source other than the BP-215. [. . . ] Use the supplied screws only when attaching the belt clip. 6 BASIC OPERATION s Channel selection × Channel 16 Channel 16 is the distress channel. It is used for establishing initial contact with another station and for emergency communications. Channel 16 is automatically monitored during both dualwatch and tri-watch. While standing by, you must monitor channel 16. ¯ Push [CH/WX] to return to the condition before selecting channel 16, or push [Y]/[Z] to select operating channel. 4 × Channel 9 (Call channels) Channel 9 is the pleasure call channel. q Rotate [VOL] clockwise to turn power ON, then set to the 10 o'clock position. · Turn [SQL] clockwise to mute any audio noise if necessary. Clear the tag channels which inconveniently stop scanning, such as digital communication use.
