The receiver header consists of a filtered translated infrared input compliant with Microsoft CIR specifications and a ?learning?The learning input is a high-pass input which the computer can use to ?learn?to speak the infrared communication language of other user remotes. The emitter header consists of two output ports which the computer can use to emulate ?learned?infrared commands in order to control external electronic hardware. NOTE The Consumer IR option must be enabled in the system BIOS before it can function. Press <F2> at boot to enter the system BIOS, and go to Advanced > Peripheral Configuration > Enhanced Consumer IR, and set this option to Enabled. Configure (2-3) After the Power-On Self-Test (POST) runs, the BIOS displays the Maintenance Menu. Use this menu to clear passwords. Recovery (None) The BIOS recovers data in the event of a failed BIOS update. Clearing Passwords This procedure assumes that the board is installed in the computer and the configuration jumper block is set to normal mode. Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin" on page 31. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Disconnect the computer?s power cord from the AC power source (wall outlet or power adapter). Find the configuration jumper block (see Figure 28). Place the jumper on pins 2-3 as shown below. 6.
