The receiver header consists of a filtered translated infrared input compliant with Microsoft CIR specifications and a ?learning?The learning input is a high-pass input which the computer can use to ?learn?to speak the infrared communication language of other user remotes. The emitter header consists of two output ports which the computer can use to emulate ?learned?infrared commands in order to control external electronic hardware. NOTE The Consumer IR option must be enabled in the system BIOS before it can function. Press <F2> at boot to enter the system BIOS, and go to Advanced > Peripheral Configuration > Enhanced Consumer IR, and set this option to Enabled. Table 6 shows the pin assignments and signal names for the front panel CIR receiver (input) header and Table 7 shows the pin assignments and signal names for the back panel CIR emitter (output) header. Connect the 12 V processor core voltage power supply cable to the 2 x 4 pin connector. Connect the main power supply cable to the 2 x 12 pin connector. If additional power is required, connect the appropriate power supply cable to either the 1 x 4 auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to the SATAstyle auxiliary PCI Express graphics power connector or to both. Setting the BIOS Configuration Jumper NOTE Always turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the computer before moving the jumper. Moving the jumper with the power on may result in unreliable computer operation. Figure 31 shows the location of the Desktop Board?s BIOS configuration jumper block. Figure 31.
