Before the development of the MiniView SE, the only way to control multiple computer configurations from a single console was through a complex and costly network system. [. . . ] Each port is identified by an appropriate icon. Note: 1. In order to have the console's keyboard and mouse control notebook computers that only have one PS/2 ports you can use a two PS/2 port to USB adapter, such as the IOGEAR GUC100KM, where you would plug the extender cable's keyboard and mouse connectors into the adapter's PS/2 ports, then plug the adapter's SUB cable into the computer's USB port. Ordinary PS/2 to USB changers commonly sold in computer shops will not work with this KVM switch. 7 Installation Setup and Installation Your current procedure Step. 1 * Before you begin, please make sure that the power to all devices has been turned off. · Plug your Mouse, Keyboard, and Monitor into the console area on the KVM. 8 Installation Setup and Installation Your current procedure Step. 2 · Connect the cables that came with the MiniViewTM SE KVM Switch to the KVM's computer ports. 9 Installation Setup and Installation Your current procedure To keyboard and mouse ports To VGA ports Step. Connect the other end of the cables that came with the MiniViewTM SE KVM to your computers. Then turn on the power of connected computers. You are now ready to take full advantage of your new KVM 10 Operation Operation Controlling the computers on your MiniViewTM SE KVM (GCS82A & GCS84A) from a single console could not be easier. The switch has two port selection methods providing you with instant access to your computers. · Manual Port Selection · HotKey Port Selection Manual Port Selection With manual port selection you simply press the appropriate button to select your desired CPU. The front LED lights indicate which computers are in use and which ones are selected. This makes for easy port navigation. HotKey Port Selection HotKey Navigation allows you to select the active computer directly from the keyboard instead of having to manually select the ports from the KVM itself. The MiniViewTM SE KVM provides two HotKey navigation features. · Active port selection · Auto Scan Mode · Last/Next Mode 11 Operation Selecting the Active Port (GCS82A only) You can toggle between the two PCs by pressing and releasing the left or right control key twice [ctrl]+[ctrl] (GCS84A only) Each CPU port is assigned a numeric ID (1-4). You can directly access any computer connected to the KVM with a hotkey combination that specifies the ID of the CPU port. · Press each of the following keys, in order, holding them down until all three are depressed. [Alt+Ctrl+Shift] · Key in the appropriate port number (1, 2, 3, 4) · Press [ENTER] to complete your selection Note: The combination must be on the same side of the keyboard (i. e. Left [ctrl]+left[Alt]+left[shift]) 12 Operation Auto Scan Mode The MiniViewTM SE KVM's auto scan feature automatically switches between the connected CPUs at regular 5-second intervals so that you can monitor their activity without having to switch the ports yourself. (GCS82A) To invoke the Auto Switch feature press and release the left shift key then do the same with the right shift key in succession of each other. (GCS84A) To invoke the Auto Switch feature perfom the following key sequence: · Press each of the following keys, in order, holding them down until all three are depressed. [Alt+Ctrl+Shift] · Key in the port number (0) · Press [Enter] to complete your selection Once scanning begins it wil continue until you press the [spacebar]. The port last seen during the scan will become the active port. Note: While Auto Scan Mode is in effect none of the keyboard keys will function until you end the Auto Scan 13 Operation Last/Next Mode (GCS84A only) This feature allows you to switch between computers in order to monitor them manually. You can dwell on a particular post for as long or as little as you like as opposed to Auto Scan Mode, which switches after a fixed interval. [. . . ] The MiniViewTM GCS82A/GCS84A does not support serial miace. Make sure the mouse is set to PS/2 mode. Some of the newer mice (with extra buttons and wheels) that come with their own drivers are not supported. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause interference to radio communications.
