When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following: · To protect against risk of electrical shock or injury never immerse power cord, plug, or motor base in water or any other liquids. · With dry hands, always remove plug from electrical outlet before assembly or disassembly. Do not remove by pulling or tugging on the power cord. Do not operate this or any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. [. . . ] Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position and the speed control knob is on LO (#1) before inserting the power cord into the electrical outlet. Insert ingredients into pitcher soft foods first, harder items last. Place the lid on the pitcher and gently turn until the lid drops down into the proper position to tighten. Insert cap into the top of the lid lining up the word "OPEN" into one of the 4 indentations on the lid. NOTE: This cap can be removed during operation to add additional ingredients or to insert the tamper. Always replace cap when you are finished inserting tamper or additional items. After turning the power OFF wait until the blades completely stop spinning before removing the cap, lid, or the pitcher. Power Cord (Bottom View) This appliance was designed with a power cord storage built-in on the underside of the base. Store the unused portion neatly underneath to avoid accidental tipping of machine. When in the open position they keep the power cord securely in place. OPEN CLOSED JACK LALANNE'S HEALTHMASTER 100 5 Functions Power Switch: Flip the switch up to turn the power ON. Push the switch down to turn the power OFF. Speed is adjustable and varies from 1 to 8 by turning the variable speed control knob from left to right. (Older HealthMaster 100 machines do not have speeds 1­8 labeled but there is eight speed settings. ) Speed Contro: Adjusts speed to customize each blend. Pulse Switch: Press and release to get a single burst of speed for each pulse until you have achieved the desired results. NOTE: Turn the variable speed control knob to the LO position before starting the machine. Using the Tamper The tamper is useful when preparing thick or frozen mixtures. The tamper can be used while the machine is running. Insert tamper through the opening in the lid. Hold the pitcher handle with one hand, grasp tamper with the other hand. Move up and down or in a circular motion to move contents around the blade. Tips for Using the Tamper: When preparing thick mixtures that stop circulating freely, insert the tamper and move in a circular motion. This will help remove any air or ingredients trapped by the blade. Do not fill the pitcher more than 2/3 full when blending thick or frozen mixtures. We do not recommend using the tamper for more than 25 continuous seconds.
