EN 41 Auto SPLP Timer (VHS Deck Only) If, when timer-recording in SP mode, there is not enough tape to record the entire programme, the recorder automatically switches to LP mode to allow complete recording. NOTES: If you have programmed the recorder to timer-record 2 or more programmes, the second programme and those thereafter may not fit on the tape if you set "AUTO SPLP TIMER" to "ON". In this case, make sure the mode is not engaged, then set the tape speed manually during timer programming. In order to ensure that the recording fits on the tape, this feature may leave a slight non-recorded section at the end of the tape. There may be some noise and sound disturbance at the point on the tape where the recorder switches from SP to LP mode. The Auto SPLP Timer feature is not available during ITR (Instant Timer Recording), and the feature will not work properly with any tapes longer than E-180 or with some tapes of shorter lengths. If you perform timer recording with both VPS/PDC and the Auto SPLP Timer activated, and the programme goes beyond its originally scheduled length, there may be times when the programme cannot be recorded in its entirety. 42 EN SPECIAL FEATURES Remote A/B/C/D Code Switching The remote control is capable of controlling four JVC video recorders independently. Each of recorders can respond to one of four codes (A, B, C or D). The remote control is preset to send A code signals because your video recorder is initially set to respond to A code signals. You can easily modify your video recorder to respond to B, C or D code signals. Remote Control Functions LCD panel On Remote Control 1 VHS DV 1 2 DISPLAY CODE Hold down VHS or DV on the remote control over 2 seconds. The code currently set blinks on the LCD panel. R BE M U N 1 2 3 OK SET REMOTE CONTROL'S CODE Press OK to set the code. " "2 On Recorder DISPLAY CODE Press PLAY on the recorder over 5 seconds while the recorder is turned off. The code currently set appears on the front display panel. If the code displayed on the front display panel is different from the code set on the remote control, go to step 2. PL AY 2 CHANGE RECORDER'S CODE Press any key on the remote control. The code currently set on the remote control will be applied to the recorder. NOTE: During Power Save, it is impossible to change the remote control's code. EN 43 TV Multi-Brand Remote Control LCD panel Your remote control can operate the basic functions of your TV set. In addition to JVC TVs, other manufacturer's TVs can also be controlled. TV/CABLE/SAT 1 2 TV/VCR 1 NUMBER 2 5 8 0 3 6 9 3 4 4 1 SET TV BRAND CODE Press TV/CABLE/SAT to switch the display to "TV" and keep pressing the button down until "TV-_ _" appears. Enter your TV's brand code using the NUMBER keys, then press OK. (Refer to the chart below. ) Press on the recorder's remote control to turn on the TV and try operations ( step 2). Once you have set the remote control to operate the TV, you don't have to repeat this step until you replace your remote control's batteries. Some brands of TV have more than one code. If the TV does not function with one code, try entering another. 4 7 1 2 3 OK STOP TV TV PR+/­ +/­ 2 OPERATE TV First, press TV/CABLE/SAT to switch the display to "TV". Then press the corresponding button: , TV PR +/­, TV/VCR, TV +/­ (Volume), (Muting), NUMBER keys. [. . . ] If the remote control doesn't work properly, remove its batteries, wait a short time, replace the batteries and then try again. Remote Control LCD The remote control can operate not only the video recorder but also some of your TV and satellite receiver's functions. The LCD indicates which of these (VIDEO, TV or CABLE/SAT) the remote control can currently operate. When you first purchase the remote control, or after you have just replaced the batteries, VIDEO A (A code) is selected. 1 To operate your video recorder, first press VHS or DV. To switch remote control's A/B/C/D code, refer to page 42. 2 To operate your TV, first press TV/CABLE/SAT until "TV" appears on the LCD ( pg. 43). 3 To operate your satellite receiver, first press TV/CABLE/SAT until "CABLE SAT" appears on the LCD ( pg.
