[. . . ] Shake the cartridge for about 10 seconds to thoroughly mix the filtering mineral. Then, place the cartridge in a container of COLD faucet water and soak for 15 minutes. HAND WASH the cover, basket and pitcher in WARM wa ter and mild dishwashing detergent. cartridge basket Note: DO NOT put the filter parts in a dishwasher. The high water temperature could damage them. After the cartridge has soaked for 15 minutes, place it in the basket as shown. Carefully, but firmly, press it all the way in, so water can not leak around it. If the cartridge does dry-out, soak it in water for at least 1 hour before using. This will restore it as close as possible to origi nal condition. Cartridge life is about 30 days, or 25 gal lons (50 pitcherfuls) of filtered water. This time will vary with the quality of the faucet water. When you notice taste and/ or odor in the filtered water, replace the cartridge. Note: Keep the new cartridge wrapped in the plastic bag until you are ready to use it. SERVICE CHECK LIST FILTERED WATER HAS BAD TASTE AND/OR ODOR.
