Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] · When a speaker output contacts ground. · When the unit malfunctions and a DC signal is sent to the speaker output. · When the internal temperature is high and unit won't operate. · When a ground wire of the center unit (cassette receiver, CD receiver, etc. ) or this unit is not connected to a metal part serving as an electrical ground passing electricity to the battery's negative - terminal. Wiring NOTE · If you experience problems during installation, consult your Kenwood dealer. [. . . ] (Use a power wiring cord with a diameter of 8 mm² (AWG 8) or greater. ) · When more than one power amplifier are going to be used, use a power supply wiring wire and protective fuse of greater current-handling capacity than the total maximum current drawn by each amplifier. Speaker Selection · The rated input power of the speakers that are going to be connected should be greater than the maximum output power (in Watts) of the amplifier. Use of speakers having input power ratings that are less than the output power of the amplifier will cause smoke to be emitted as well as damage. · Use speakers that have an impedance of 1/ 2 or greater. When more than one set of speakers are going to be used, calculate the combined impedance of the speakers and then connect suitable speakers to the amplifier. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the negative - terminal of the battery to prevent short circuits. Set the unit according to the intended usage. Connect the input and output wires of the units. Connect the power wire, power control wire and grounding wire following this order. Install the installation fittings in the unit. Check whether there is any indication of trouble. (See page 2) 1 Fuse (KAC-9152D/9102D: 30 A × 2) Fuse (KAC-6104D/8102D: 40 A × 1) NOTE If you can't find the specified capacity fuse at your store etc. , consult your Kenwood dealer. @ BASS BOOST LEVEL control (KAC-9102D/8102D only) Sets the low frequency level to be compensated. 2 Battery terminal 3 Ground terminal 4 Power control terminal Controls the unit ON/OFF. NOTE # LPF(Low-Pass Filter) FREQUENCY control This control adjusts the frequency band output from this unit. $ ISF (infrasonic filter) switch Ultralow frequencies that cannot be reproduced even by a subwoofer speaker do not become sound but become unnecessary oscillations, which affect the sound by causing distortion, etc. Setting this switch to "15 Hz" or "25 Hz" cuts the frequencies below the respective frequency. This improves the reproduction performance of the speakers by eliminating unnecessary oscillations which will not become sound. Controls the unit power. Be sure to connect it with all the systems. 5 Speaker output terminals · KAC-9152D As this unit accepts speakers with a minimum impedance of 1 ohm, connect speakers with 1-ohm or higher impedance to these terminals. % PHASE switch When this switch is set "180°" (Reverse) the speaker output phase is reversed. · KAC-9102D/8152D/8102D As this unit accepts speakers with a minimum impedance of 2 ohms, connect speakers with 2-ohms or higher impedance to these terminals. 2CAUTION ^ INPUT SENSITIVITY control Set this control according to the pre-output level of the center unit connected with this unit, or to the maximum power output of the genuineaccessory car stereo. Use the diagram on the right as a guide. NOTE The rated input of the speakers should be no less than the maximum output of the amplifier. Otherwise malfunction may result. 6 REMOTE terminal (KAC-9152D/8152D only) Connects the Remote cable. NOTE For the pre-output level or the maximum power output, refer to the <Specifications> in the instruction manual of the center unit. & BOOST LEVEL (Bass boost level) control (KAC-9152D/8152D only) Sets the level by which the low frequency range should be boosted. Use the Remote cable of the accessory. 7 Speaker level input terminals NOTE * FREQUENCY (Bass boost frequency) control (KAC-9152D/ 8152D only) Sets the center frequency around which the low frequency range should be boosted. · The genuine-accessory car stereo shall have a maximum power output of no more than 40 W. · Do not connect the speaker output leads from a power amplifier (Optional) to the speaker level input terminals of this unit, for this may cause malfunction or damage. · Do not connect cables and leads to both RCA cable input jacks and the speaker level input terminals simultaneously, for this may cause malfunction or damage. · Connect the power control lead to a power supply which can be turned ON/OFF by the ignition key switch (ACC line). With this connection, shock noise may be generated when the power of the genuine-accessory car stereo is switched ON/OFF. 8 RCA cable ground lead terminal When using an RCA cable with a ground lead attached, connect the ground lead to this terminal. 9 LINE IN terminal English 5 Dual Mono Drive (Function of the KAC-9152D) A Dual Mono Drive system is a system in which 2 monaural amplifiers are both set to bridged mode to drive one subwoofer with a high-output signal. Setting CENTER UNIT Subwoofer (2 or higher) 1. [. . . ] If a cable is incorrectly connected between 9 and · terminals of these amplifiers, the amplifier protection circuit is turned on. · Use a speaker having the 2 or higher impedance only. · To protect the electrical system from a short-circuiting, be sure to remove the · battery cable from the vehicle in advance. · Fully insulate amplifier terminals and speaker terminals to avoid a high voltage from peripherals. 6 English Troubleshooting Guide What might appear to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or miswiring.
