When you press the cam plate d upwards, you can pull the connecting plate e diagonally downwards from the guide. The front wheel can be assembled to the fork in the same way but in reverse order. In order to loosen the connecting rivet b from the cam plate c the cam plate has to be pressed towards the front and the connecting rivet pushed in the direction of the rear wheel. The connecting rivet is now free and can be loosened from the cam plate. Loosen the clamping screw d from the braking clamp e. The disassembly of the respective gearings is described on the following pages. The rear wheel is assembled to the frame in the same way but in reverse order. Please observe that the connecting rivet is sitting correctly in the cam plate. Torques e a Important Advice! Before starting to cycle a brake test should be made in order to ensure that the brake is working correctly (amongst other things, repeated use of the handbrake lever). 82 d b c Assembly / Disassembly of the Rear Wheel in the Hubgears SRAM 5 / 7-Gear Hubgears If, in the event of a defect, (e. g. damage to the tyre) the rear wheel has to be disassembled from the frame, please observe the following assembly steps: 1. ) Set the gear lever to the 3rd gear (in the 7th gear hubgears position the gear lever to 4th gear). 2. ) Pull the gear box from the rear axle by loosening the knurled bolt a. 3. ) Loosen the axle nuts b and the safety discs so that the rear wheel can be moved freely in the frame. 4. ) Finally, remove the brake arm c mounting. Now you can loosen the rear wheel from the frame by gently tapping the tyre in the direction of the front wheel. The rear wheel can be assembled to the frame again in the same way but in reverse order. Torques a Important Advice! c b The gear unit can be damaged if the assembly / disassembly of the rear wheel is carried out incorrectly. We recommend only having work carried out on the rear wheel hub by a specialist dealer. 83 Assembly / Disassembly of the Rear Wheel in the Hubgears Shimano 7-Gear Hubgears If, in the event of a defect, (e. g. damage to the tyre) the rear wheel has to be disassembled from the frame, please observe the following assembly steps: 1. ) Position the gear lever to 1st gear. 2. ) Remove the cable housing from the cable housing holder a and loosen the cable mounting screw b from the control gear c. 3. ) Then loosen the axle nuts d and the safety discs to ensure that the rear wheel can be moved freely in the frame. 4. ) Finally, remove the brake arm mounting e. [. . . ] Liability for Material Defects (Guarantee) The liability for material defects (guarantee) for the product you have purchased is two years. In this respect, please observe the new, applicable guarantee regulations in force since 01. 01. 2002. Technical modifications to your bike can only be carried out after prior consultation with KETTLER since the parts used by KETTLER will be subjected to higher load test than is normal.
