Use this software in the conduct of business without limit when the software is used with the intended Minolta Product. [. . . ] When prompted, enter the IP Address of the Minolta Network device. Set the appropriate configuration by choosing the applicable file folder tabs. Chapter 4 The following settings are configurable: · · · · · TCP/IP NetWare NetWare Queues NetWare Port EtherTalk · · · · Output SNMP Protocols SNMP Traps Configuring TCP/IP Options To configure options specific to the TCP/IP protocol, select the TCP/ IP file tab. The following screen will display: Fill in the following information: 4-21 TCP/IP Minolta Network Utility for TCP/IP IP Address Resolution · Set Permanent Select this option to make the IP address permanent. If the Minolta Network device has been configured to remember its IP address, it does not need to determine its address each time it is powered on. Enter the IP address for the Minolta Network device. The IP address must follow the format XXX. XXX. XXX. XXX, where each XXX is a number from 0 to 255. CAUTION: If you select an invalid IP address, you may not be able to access the Minolta Network device. · Use Network Protocol Select this option to use RARP, BOOTP or DHCP to determine the IP address at power up. Subnet Mask The subnet mask must follow the format XXX. XXX. XXX. XXX, where each XXX is a number from 0 to 255. If a subnet mask is not specified, the Minolta Network device will calculate one based on the class of its assigned IP address. This is not always reliable, so it is recommended that a subnet mask always be selected. This setting allows trap utilities to only accept traps from devices with appropriate community names. Enabling/Disabling Protocols To enable or disable protocols on the Minolta Network device, select the Protocols file tab. Select each protocol you wish to enable. If you disable a protocol, the Minolta Network device will no longer communicate using that protocol. Configuring SNMP Traps The SNMP Trap option allows configuration of traps. Traps are unsolicited information concerning the Minolta Network device. Traps can be sent to an SNMP manager or be broadcast to all hosts on the local segment. To configure SNMP traps, select the SNMP Traps file tab. NOTE: SNMP options need to be configured only if you are managing Minolta Network devices or getting system information using SNMP. 4-25 TCP/IP Chapter 4 Minolta Network Utility for TCP/IP Protocol Select the protocol for which you wish to configure trap information. Trap Destination · TCP/IP Protocol Enter the IP address to which traps will be sent. The IP address must follow the format XXX. XXX. XXX. XXX, where each XXX is a number from 0 to 255. To broadcast traps to all hosts on the local subnet, enter 255. 255. 255. 255. · NetWare Protocol Enter the network number and hardware address, respectively, to which traps will be sent. To broadcast traps to all addresses on all networks, enter FFFFFFFF (8 characters) in the first field and FFFFFFFFFFFF (12 characters) in the second field. [. . . ] The Minolta Network utility is unable to communicate with the router and to locate the zones. The change will take place when the Minolta Network device is idle. If the Minolta Network device is power cycled or reset before it becomes idle, changes will be lost. Return to the zone selection window and search the network again to display the new information.
