If a group file is selected to be converted, only the images files in the group file are converted. Follow the procedure described below to convert a document file to a different file format. 1 In pane B, select the document file whose format you wish to convert. 2 On the [Document] menu, click [Change format]. The "Change format" dialog box appears. 3 Specify the format that the file will be converted to, the bit depth and the compression method. 4 Click the [OK] button. The file is converted to the specified format and saved as a new file. The file in the new format is given the same name as the file in the old format with the appropriate file extension. 5-25 5 Managing Document Files Note The file format conversion continues as a background process after it is started. When the process is finished, a message appears, indicating that the process is finished. In addition, if the process failed, a message appears, showing the name of that file. If a file with the name for the new format already exists in the folder, the new file is saved with a different name so that the existing file is not overwritten. For example, if a file titled "MyPic. tif" is to be converted and saved as "MyPic. jpg", which already exists, the file is instead saved as "MyPic. 1. jpg". Keyword, annotation and note information are not transferred to the file in the new format. 5-26 Managing Document Files 5 5. 6 Working With Annotations Annotations can be specified when an image file is opened in the "Viewer" window. For details on the "Viewer" window, refer to "Displaying Document Files in the "Viewer" Window". Specifying Annotations Before specifying annotations, make sure that [Show Annotation] on the [View] menu of the "Viewer" window is selected so that the annotations are displayed. Common operations The following operations are available in the display pane of the "Viewer" window. 1 2 3 4 5 No. 1 Button Name Pointer Mode Description The pointer changes to an arrow, and annotations that have been added can be selected. Clicking this button is the same as clicking [Pointer Mode] on the [View] menu. The pointer changes to a selection pointer, and the area of the image that is selected is copied to the Clipboard. Clicking this button is the same as clicking [Draw Mode] on the [View] menu. The pointer changes to a hand, and the image can be freely moved within the display pane. Clicking this button is the same as clicking [Cursor Mode] on the [View] menu. Click this button to undo the last annotation operation that was performed. Clicking this button is the same as clicking [Undo] on the [Edit] menu. Click this button to redo the operation that was undone.
