Press the + key repeatedly until the message display indicates >Resource prot. 
The current resource protection mode is indicated -- Permanent or Perm/Temp.

Press the ENTER key. The question mark (?) will appear blinking. Press the + key to change from Permanent to Perm/Temp,  or vice versa. Press the ENTER key to finalize the setting. Press the MODE key to exit the mode selection menu.

Displaying the Printer Driver Window
The FS-5800C's printer driver window can be displayed from Windows or from an application. 

Note:
Available option tabs and operation buttons displayed through Windows 95 may differ depending on the driver version.

Click Start,  select Settings,  then click Printers. 
The Printers window is displayed. 

Click the Kyocera FS-5800C printer icon. Click the File menu,  then click Properties. 
The Kyocera FS-5800C Properties window is displayed.

s From an application
For example,  to print a document created in Microsoft WordPad on Windows 95,  perform the following steps.

Click Start,  select Programs,  select Accessories,  then click WordPad. 
The WordPad window is displayed. 

Click the File menu,  then click Print. . . . 
The Print window is displayed. 

Select Kyocera FS-5800C in the Name: box. Click Properties. 
The Kyocera FS-5800C window is displayed. 

Click a tab to view the features.

Note:
The print options in the File menu depend on the Windows application. The instructions described hereafter are based on the windows displayed in Windows 95. However,  most instructions for Windows 3. 1 are the same as for Windows 95.

1 Print to the following port
Select the port where the printer is connected. If you use the parallel interface for connecting to the computer,  select LPT1: (ECP Printer Port). For the functions of other buttons,  refer to the Help menu in the Windows.

1 Paper Source Display Panel
This display panel shows which source paper tray is currently selected. 

2 Input Source
Selects the media source to feed media from -- media cassettes (Cassette 1,  2,  3) or multi-purpose tray (MP Tray). 

3 Copies
Specifies the number of copies to print. 

4 Orientation
Selects portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) orientation. 

5 Paper Size
Specifies paper size to print on. For cassettes 1,  2,  and 3,  allowable paper sizes are Letter,  Legal,  and A4. For the MP tray,  allowable paper sizes are Letter,  Legal,  A4,  Executive,  and JIS B5. Some applications will override the paper size selected here and print on the paper size selected in the application.

1 Colour Options
Colour Wizard tells the printer to automatically select the best settings to print the document. Manual Settings allows you to specify settings to control output (See item 3 below). 

2 Colour Mode
This setting controls whether the page is printed in four-colour,  three-colour,  or in black and white gray scale. 

3 Manual Settings/Options
This button displays the Colour Options Properties dialog box. For details,  see Colour Options Properties which follows. 

4 EcoPrint
This is activated when the Colour Mode is grayscale. The EcoPrint enables you to reduce the amount of toner used on the page. Normally,  the EcoPrint should be left Off.
