Notice on Software SOFTWARE USED WITH THIS PRINTER MUST SUPPORT THE PRINTER'S NATIVE MODE OR ONE OF ITS EMULATION MODES. The printer is factory set to emulate the HP LaserJet 5M. The emulation mode can be changed by following the procedures described in Chapter 2. [. . . ] It is possible to set the partitions on the memory card which you wish to execute for the printer at power-on by using the PRESCRIBE FRPO I0 command. For details on the FRPO command, see Appendix C. Font cards can be read from the control panel or read automatically upon power-on or printer reset when a font card is inserted in the printer. Inserting Memory Cards Carefully insert the memory card as far as it will go with the top side facing up. Memory Card Memory Card Slot 2-41 2. 14. Memory Cards Notes Follow the precautions below when handling memory cards. q Memory cards are sensitive to static electricity. Before handling a memory card, be sure to eliminate any static electricity which may have built up on your body or clothing by touching a metallic object. q Use flash memory cards or S-RAM memory cards conforming to JEIDA Ver. q Be sure that its power is off when inserting or removing a memory card. q Do not insert memory cards into the slot with undue force. q Do not drop memory cards or subject them to shock. q Do not splash water or other liquids on memory cards. q Do not place memory cards near fires or heat sources. q Do not subject memory cards to direct sunlight. q Store memory cards in their protective case when not using them. Operating a Memory Card The following operations on memory cards inserted into the printer's memory card slots are possible. q Reading Fonts q Reading Macros q Reading Data q Writing Data q Deleting Data q Formatting Memory Cards 2-42 q Printing a List of Data Names (Partitions) Chapter 2 Operating the Laser Printer Note that only reading fonts and printing a list of partitions are possible when a font card is inserted. The following sections explain each of these operations. Each operation is described below. Reading Fonts from a Memory Card Fonts can be read into the printer's internal memory from optional font cards. The font read can then be selected from the printer's control panel. Font cards are automatically read into the printer when the printer's power is turned on. The operation described here is performed while the message display reads Ready. Check that the font card is inserted into the memory card slot. Bring up the menu >Read fonts on the message display. [. . . ] Press the + and ­ key to select the desired setting.
