[. . . ] Windows 2000: From the file you want to print, click File the Printer Settings tab, click Change. Printer Properties 2 From the Paper Setup tab, select the paper type, paper size, and print orientation. Remove your document Being careful not to touch the ink, remove the printed document from the exit tray. Note: To avoid a paper jam, remove your documents before 25 sheets accumulate in the exit tray. 13 Maintenance Installing or replacing cartridges 1 Make sure plain paper is loaded in the paper tray. 3 Open the cartridge door. Note: The cartridge carrier may move slightly, and then return to the loading position. 4 Push up on the cartridge lever. Note: The cartridge holder springs open. 5 Remove the old print cartridge and dispose of it. 14 6 Remove the sticker and transparent tape from the new print cartridge. Warning: Do not touch the gold contact area on the print cartridge. 7 Install the new print cartridge: SNAP Insert the cartridge into the carrier slot. Push the cartridge lever back to secure it under the cartridge hook. Press the cartridge lever down until it snaps into place. Note: Insert the color cartridge in the front carrier slot. Insert the black cartridge in the back carrier slot. 8 Close the cartridge door. 15 Note: The next time you send a document to print, an alignment page prints. Your printer uses the alignment page to align the cartridges. You may need to resend your document to print. Aligning cartridges using a computer 1 Load plain paper. The print cartridge does not print correctly if removed from the printer and left exposed for an extended period of time. 18 Your printer warranty does not cover repair of failures or damage caused by a refilled cartridge. Lexmark does not recommend use of refilled cartridges. Refilling cartridges can affect print quality and cause damage to the printer. For best results, use Lexmark supplies. Removing the power supply 1 Position the printer so the power supply is facing you. 2 To access the release tab, pull the printer slightly over the edge of the surface it is resting on. The release tab is located under the power supply. 3 Reach under the power supply and pull the release tab forward to pull the power supply out of the printer. 19 Troubleshooting If your printer has a problem, first make sure: · The power supply is plugged into your printer and an electrical outlet. · The USB cable is securely attached to your set-top box or your computer and to your printer. · The sticker and transparent tape covering the bottom of each cartridge is removed. · Your printer is turned on. Blinking lights If all of the lights are blinking, there may be a paper jam. Paper jam 1 Press the power button to turn the printer off. 2 Look for a paper jam in the: a Exit tray b Paper tray c Side door area. b c a 20 Note: You many need to remove the paper tray or open the side door to reach the paper. 3 Gently remove the paper. Note: If you opened the side door, push it back toward the printer, and then push up on it to close it. 4 Make sure you have loaded the paper correctly. 5 Press the power button to turn the printer on. 6 Resend your document to print. Solid lights Paper out If the paper out light is on, your printer may be out of paper. 1 Pull the paper tray completely out. 3 Push the paper tray completely back in. Ink low If the top (color) ink light is on, your color print cartridge may be low on ink. [. . . ] Such developer is an intended beneficiary of this limitation.
