Mud absorbs the sound wave and returns a weaksignal. Ifyou have the automatic sensitMtyturned on, watchthesensitivity bar. Astheboatpasses overthe mudbottom, theX-30will automatically increasethe sensitivityto maintain agood bottomsignal. Thesensitivity barwill helpyou indetermining ifthe bottom Issoftor hard. If it increaseswhileinthesame depth ofwater, then the boat hasmoved overa softbottom. lfitdecreases, thenitisovera hard bottom. Of course, as the water depth increases or decreases, the sensitivity will also change. To adjustthesensitivity whilethe X-30 is in theautomatic mode, simplypress the right arrowkeyto Increase it.
