USE GOOD JUDGEMENT
This product is an excellent navigation aid, but does not replace the need for careful orienteering and good judgement. [. . . ] Use the joystick (U/D) to set the backlight time on limit. Access the Tools menu and select `Settings'. Highlight `Brightness & Volume' and press ENTER. Use the joystick (L/R) to decrease or increase the speaker volume. Access the Tools menu and select `Settings'. Highlight `Brightness & Volume' and press ENTER. Press ENTER to select muted (checked) or unmuted (unchecked). Press BACK.

Power Options Set Suspend Timer To help conserve battery life you can set a time duration that puts the receiver into suspend mode automatically if no keys have been pressed. During suspend mode the receiver is in power save mode but continues to log your track and compute your current position. Access the Tools menu and select `Settings'. Highlight the `Active Suspend Timer' field. Use the joystick to select the desired time or `Never'. Set Power Off Timer The Power Off Timer turns the receiver off if it hasn't received any key presses within the time selected. Access the Tools menu and select `Settings'. Highlight the `Power OFF Timer' field. Use the joystick to select the desired time or `Never'. Access the Tools menu and select `Settings'. Highlight the `Battery Type' field.
