Rubber gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. [. . . ] For example; pipes, radiators, ranges, refrigerator enclosures. This tool should be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electric shock. EXTENSION CORDS: Use only three-wire extension cords which have threeprong grounding-type plugs and three-pole receptacles which accept the tool's plug. Replace or repair damaged or worn cord immediately. VOLTAGE WARNING: Before connecting the tool to a power source (receptacle, outlet, etc. ) be sure the voltage supplied is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. A power source with voltage greater than that specified for the tool can result in SERIOUS INJURY t o the user - as well as damage t o the tool. Using a power source with voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to the motor. 3 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS ALL GROUNDED, CORD-CONNECTED TOOLS: In the event of a malfunction. or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This tool is equipped with an electric cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into a matching outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Do not modify the plug provided -if it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. The conductor with insulation having an outer surface that is green with or without yellow stripes is the _equ@ment-grounding conductor. If repair or replacement of the electric cord or plugis necessary, do not connect the equipment-grounding conductor t o a live terminal. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if in doubt as t o whether the tool is properly grounded. This tool is intended for use on a circuit that has an outlet that looks like the one illustrated in Figure A. The tool has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in Figure A. A temporary adapter, which looks like the adapter illustrated in Figure B and C, may be used t o connect this plug t o a 2-pole receptacle as shown in Figure B if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet can be installed by a qualified electrician. extending from the adapter must be connected t o a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. [. . . ] Keep the carbon brushes clean and free t o slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced a t the same time. Use only Makita carbon brushes. Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Take out the worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones and secure the brush holder caps. To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, reparis, any other maintenance or adjustment should be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers, always using Makita replacement parts. 9 ACCESSOR I ES CAUTION : These accessories or attachments are recommended for use with your Makita tool specified in this manual.
