The screen saver picture appears when you leave the DVD player in stop mode for about 5 minutes. Screen Saver Automatic power off function After the Screen Saver has been engaged for about 5 minutes, the DVD player will automatically turn itself off. Dimmer Function You can control the Display Window's light in 3 steps. Each you press DIMMER button, the Display Window's light of this unit will be changed in following order. Normal Light Dimmer Light Display Off Normal Light · If you select the Display Off mode, the DISPLAY OFF indicator lights. BASIC OPERATION PAGE 21 Special Playback Still Picture (Pause) Press PAUSE during playback. q POWER OPEN/CLOSE SETUP REPEAT A-B RANDOM DVD/Video CD The player will be placed in the still picture mode. q CD The player will be placed in the pause mode. AUDIO SUBTITLE ANGLE SURR. Frame Advance (DVD and Video CD only) Press PAUSE during still playback. (Each time you press PAUSE, the picture advances one frame) TOP MENU MENU SELECT /ENTER To resume normal playback, press PLAY. RETURN OSD ZOOM MARKER -- SEARCH Skipping Chapters and Tracks Forward or Back SKIP ( / SCAN PLAY SKIP PLAY STOP STOP PAUSE SLOW ) Skipping forward Press SKIP during playback. A chapter (DVD) or a track (CD/Video CD) is skipped each time the button is pressed. PAUSE 1 4 7 CLEAR 2 5 8 0 3 6 9 PROGRAM Skipping back Press SKIP during playback. q When the button is pressed once midway through a chapter/track, the player returns to the start of that chapter/track. When it is pressed again, a chapter/track is skipped each time the button is pressed. For your reference: q When SKIP is pressed during menu play of video CDs equipped with PBC (Version 2. 0), a menu screen may sometimes be recalled. How To Set The Video Mode · With certain DVD disc, the playback picture is flickering or Dot Crawl is shown on straight lines. That means Vertical interpolation or De-interlace is not perfectly matched with DVD disc. In that case, the picture quality can be improved with changing video mode. · To change the video mode, press and hold OSD button on the remote control about 3 seconds during playback of DVD disc. Changed video mode number is displayed on the TV screen. Check whether video quality is improved. You can repeat above procedure until desired picture quality appear. · Procedure of video mode is changed; MODE2 MODE3 MODE4 MODE5 MODE1. · If you turn off the the power, the video mode will be back to initial state (MODE1). TOP MENU MENU SELECT /ENTER OSD RETURN ZOOM MARKER -- SEARCH q The speed of advance (reverse) is relatively slow at first. When the button is pressed again, the speed becomes faster. (Each time the button is pressed, the speed increases up to 4 steps (DVD) or 3 steps (Video CD/CD). ) q The speed will be retained even after the button is released. PLAY SCAN PLAY SKIP SCAN STOP To return to normal playback, press PLAY. Note The DVD player does not play back sound during the high speed reverse and forward playback of DVD video discs. However, the DVD player plays back sound during fast forward or fast reverse playback of audio CDs. Subtitles do not appear on the screen during scan playback.
