All information in this Owner's Manual is based on the latest product information available at the time of printing. [. . . ] NOTE: Before operating the boat for the first time you must read the engine manufacturer's manual completely in addition to this Manual! Pleasefollowthebreak-inprocedurecarefully. Closeattentionto thefollowingisveryimportant: · Maintain the proper oil level. Until the piston rings, cylinder and other working internal parts are thoroughly seated, oil consumptioncanbehighandmustbecarefullywatched. (Thiscontinuestobeimportantafterbreak-in, aswell). · Paycloseattentiontothegauges. Itisimportanttostopthe engineimmediatelyifthegaugesindicateaproblem. Lowoilpressureandoverheatingareseriousissuesandrequireimmediateattention. · Abnormalvibrationornoises. Thesesymptomscanprecede trouble and should not be ignored. Occasionally, hardware may workloose, mountingsmayneedtobetightenedorthedriveline mayrequireattention. Oncethebreak-inperiodisover, theboatmaybeoperatedcontinuouslyatanyspeed, butnotbeyondthemaximumindicatedinthe enginemanual. The engines are equipped with rev-limiters which will cause a flutteringsoundwhenreached. Iftheboathasthecorrectpropeller set-up, operatorsshouldneverreachthelimiter, butifthathappens, itisasignalthatyoushouldreducethethrottleandcheckwithan authorizedMasterCraftdealertodeterminethecause. Alwaysrememberthatduringnormaloperationyoushouldallow theenginetowarmupgradually. Besuretheengineiswarmbefore accelerating. Pay careful attention to the gauges. Also, check the oil levelfrequentlyduringthefirstfifty(50)hoursofoperationsincethe pistonringsandcylindersrequirethatmuchtimetoseatproperly. See the Scheduled Maintenance Checks and Services section for moredetails. After Break-In Failure to follow the engine oil recommendations listed in the engine manual can cause additional engine wear and increase the possibility of engine component failure. If both engines are running andtheboatismoving, theshiftersshouldbeshiftedtogetherandin thesamedirection. Doingotherwisecandamagethesystem. Thenextmiddleleveristheportenginethrottle, whichallowsthe boattofeedfuelintotheengineandoperateinmotion. Pushingforward onitwillsignalthesystemthatfuelshouldbesenttotheportengine. Thissystemallowsgreatermaneuverabilityindocking, aswellas whentheboatisinoperation. However, it requires more practice and skill in order to avoid potential damage to the boat. See Engine Synchronizing Switch in this section of the Owner's Manual for more details. Duringregularwarm-upoftheengine, itispossibletotemporarily increasetheengineRPMswithoutmovingtheboat. Toaccomplishthis, pull outward (lateral to the unit) on the engine shift/throttle control. The engine will run with increased RPMs and can be increased or decreased by moving the lever. Returning the handle to the neutral position(asshowninillustrationabove)willbringthesystembackto neutralandreducetheengineRPMstopre-setlevels. Over-revvingtheenginefor anyextendedperiodcancauseunduewearandtearontheengine. Avoid advancingtowide-open-throttleandholdingtheRPMsatthatlevel. Stopping Step 1: Slowlybringthecontrollevertotheneutralposition. Ifthe boathasbeendrivenforalongperiodoftimeorathigh speed, allowtheenginea2-3minutecool-downperiodat lowidle(600-800RPM).
