If the clip of the cooling fan scrapes across the mainboard, you may cause serious damage to both the mainboard and the processor. On most mainboards, there are small surface-mount resistors near the processor socket, which may be damaged if the cooling fan is carelessly installed. Avoid using cooling fans with sharp edges on the fan casing and the clips. It is important, therefore, first to try to understand all the Setup Utility's options, and second, to make settings appropriate for the way you use the computer. This chapter guides you through the Setup Utility by providing clear explanations for all Setup Utility options. 33 A standard configuration has already been set in the Setup Utility, so you will very likely have little to worry about for now. Some options lead to pop-up dialog boxes that may ask you to verify that you wish to execute that option. You usually answer these dialogs by typing Y for yes and N for no. Enter Password: Selecting some fields and pressing the enter key displays a list of options for that field.
