Muffler Assist Handle Coupler Trimmer Head Shaft Spark Plug Shield Throttle Trigger Primer Bulb Line Limiter Blade ON/STOP Switch Start Lever Starter handle ON/STOP SWITCH The ON/STOP switch is located on the trigger handle and is used to stop the engine. To stop the engine, push and release the engine ON/ STOP switch. START LEVER PRIMER BULB The PRIMER BULB removes air from the carburetor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel. This allows you to start the engine with fewer pulls on the starter rope. Activate the primer bulb by pressing it and allowing it to return to its original form. The START LEVER helps to supply fuel to the engine to aid in starting. Activate the starting system by moving the start lever to the START position. DO NOT squeeze the throttle trigger until the engine has started and runs. After the engine starts, allow the engine to warm-up 10-15 seconds, then fully squeeze the throttle trigger to deactivate the starting system. COUPLER The COUPLER enables optional attachments to be installed on the unit. Pour the entire contents of the 3. 2 ounce (95 ml) container of oil into 1 gallon (4 liters) of gasoline to achieve the proper fuel mixture. When mixing fuel follow the instructions printed on the container. Once oil is added to gasoline, shake container momentarily to assure that the fuel is thoroughly mixed. Always read and follow the safety rules relating to fuel before fueling your unit. CAUTION: Never use straight gasoline in your unit. This will cause permanent engine damage and void the limited warranty. BEFORE STARTING ENGINE FUELING ENGINE when refueling. WARNING: Be sure to read the fuel information in the safety rules before you begin. If you do not understand the safety rules, do not attempt to fuel your unit. WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly To obtain the correct oil mix ratio, pour 3. 2 ounces of 2- cycle synthetic oil into one gallon of fresh gas. This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Before operation, gasoline must be mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1. A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing 3. 2 fluid ounces (95 ml) of oil with 1 gallon (4 liters) of unleaded HELPFUL TIP FUEL REQUIREMENTS IMPORTANT This engine requires the use of minimum 87 octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline. Use of alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can cause major engine performance and durability problems. 10 WARNING: Alternative fuels (not gasoline) such as E- (15% alcohol), E- (20% -15 -20 alcohol), E- (85% alcohol) are NOT classified -85 as gasoline and are NOT approved for use in 2-stroke gasoline engines. Use of alternative fuels will cause problems such as: improper clutch engagements, overheating, vapor lock, power loss, lubrication deficiency, deterioration of fuel lines, gaskets and internal carburetor components, etc. [. . . ] McCulloch recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on your small off-road engine, but McCulloch cannot deny warranty solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the performance of all scheduled maintenance. As the small off-road engine owner, you should be aware that McCulloch may deny you warranty coverage if your small offroad engine or a part of it has failed due to 19 abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, unapproved modifications, or the use of parts not made or approved by the original equipment manufacturer. You are responsible for presenting your small off-road engine to an McCulloch authorized repair center as soon as a problem exists. Warranty repairs should be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days. [. . . ]
