Moog Music has put more than 30 years of experience with analog synthesizer technology into the design of this instrument to bring you the fattest lead synthesizer since the minimoog was introduced in 1970. We've done away with the things that made 30-yearold analog synthesizers difficult ­ the tuning instability, the lack of patch memory, and the lack of compatibility with MIDI gear. We've kept the good parts ­ the rugged construction, the fun of changing a sound with knobs in real time, and the amazing, warm, fat, pleasing analog sound. [. . . ] Noise is a random signal, so the voltage that appears at the output of the sample and hold is a random voltage that changes in time with the LFO. LFO RATE: The LFO Rate control sets the Rate of the dedicated LFO. The range of oscillation is . 2 Hz to 50 Hz. LFO SYNC: The LFO Sync switch sets the trigger method for starting the LFO waveform. OFF/SYNC: This setting allows the LFO to be free running, MIDI: Allows the division of the MIDI clock signal set up in the EDIT mode function "MIDI CLK Divider" to retrigger the LFO. Note the LFO is analog, and does not automatically sync to MIDI clock - it is restarted much in the manner oscillator sync works, and does not defeat the Rate control. KB: Allows the LFO to be retriggered when a Note On is received. GATE: Allows the Envelope Gate Source to restart the LFO. 32 H. THE REAR PANEL The Rear Panel contains all the Voyager's connecitvity. In addition to the Audio Outputs, there are the External Audio Input, Mixer Out/Filter In Insert jack, Accessory port CV/gate inputs and outputs, the MIDI connectors, and the power connector. POWER CONNECTOR: This is a standard AC power inlet, Use only a power cord designed to mate with this receptacle. The Voyager power supply is designed to work with power inputs of 100-240 VAC; 50-60 Hz. DANGER ­ Do not alter this connector in any way. Doing so can result in the risk of shock, injury or death. Be familiar with the safety instructions printed at the beginning of this manual. If the connector should be damaged, refer servicing to qualified personnel only. OUTPUT MODE SWITCH: The Voyager Rack Mount's outputs can be operated as either balanced or unbalanced outputs. The Output Jacks are TRS, and in balanced output, provide an electronically (non-transformer) balanced signal with a nominal output impedance of 600 . In unbalanced mode, the outputs are "Floating" TRS connections. Set this switch to its proper position prior to power up, and do not change its position while the Voyager Rack Mount is amplified. LEFT/MONO and RIGHT OUTPUTS: The Outputs are 1/4" TRS jacks. When connecting to an unbalanced input, standard TS instrument cables can be used. [. . . ] In normal studio use, the actual sound given off is inaudible, or barely audible. This is a property of all electroluminescent panel lamps. Some studio equipment may pick up and amplify a tiny amount of energy from the Voyager's EL lamp circuit. Should you observe this, you should reposition the equipment so it is farther away from the Voyager. [. . . ]
