[. . . ] WARNING: No attempt should be made to repair the blanket or have it repaired locally and the switch supplied must never be replaced other than by the manufacturers since the specialised components are not generally available. A charge will be made for this service but remember that the alternative would have been a damaged blanket and bedding. The fact that this blanket incorporates the overheat system does not absolve the user from observing these instructions. Dual control models Each side of the blanket has a completely separate element and each is supplied with its own independant mains lead. Do not connect both flexible cords to one 13amp plug. The two leads should preferably be plugged into individual sockets. However, if only one socket is accessible, then a dual adaptor should be used. WARNING: Only the electric blanket should be connected to the dual 3 S3 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:52 PM Page 4 Underblanket with tie tapes · Use only as an underblanket and do not use above the occupant of the bed. · The blanket must be secured to the mattress in the following manner. Place the blanket directly on the mattress and ensure that a space of 10-15cm (4-6 inches) is left between the bottom edge of the blanket and mattress. · WARNING: Ensure the blanket is not folded, rucked or creased. When in use do not cover with pillows. Fitting instructions 1 At the starting position the tape must be passed under the corner of the mattress, threaded up through the centre eyelet, passed under the adjacent corner, threaded through both eyelets on the long side of the blanket, passed under bottom corner, threaded through centre eyelet, passed under the remaining corner and finally tied securely to the corner eyelet at the finish position (see diagram A). · If the blanket is stretched too tightly, not allowing for `give' of mattress when the bed is occupied, distortion of the edges may take place. All night use 1 Move the heat setting on the control switch to heat level 1. · This setting will provide safe and comfortable heat to sleep on all night. · This setting can be used to air the bed. WARNING: Always ensure that the heat setting is moved to the OFF position when you get up the next day, or after airing the bed. Preheating the bed 1 Move the heat setting on the control switch to heat level 2 or 3, depending on the level of the heat required. Allow approximately 60-90 minutes for the blanket to heat the bed thoroughly, although this time may vary depending on the room temperature and type of bedding used. Braille markings · Braille markings are located on the back of the switch to help identify the direction of the heat level in the dark, or if visually impaired. · The highest heat level pre-heat is identified by 3 raised nodules mid level by 2 raised nodules low level (all night) by 1 raised nodule 5 S3 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:52 PM Page 6 Washing instructions WARNING: Do not machine wash · Do NOT dry clean · Do NOT iron · Do NOT tumble dry - Sponge washing 1 Unplug the blanket from the power socket. 2 Use a mild washing liquid or detergent and lukewarm water. 3 Sponge wash dirty areas of the blanket avoiding the control switch area. 4 Gently stretch the blanket back to its original shape and size before line drying WITHOUT using clothes pegs on the wired area of the blanket. 6 S3 Rev 2 21/7/04 1:52 PM Page 7 Servicing Examine the blanket and cord frequently for signs of wear or damage. In the case of damage, or for routine inspection every 2 years, return the blanket to the service department (see address below).
