This booklet is an integral part of the vehicle, and should the vehicle be sold, it must be transferred to the new owner. The instructions in this manual have been prepared to offer mainly a simple and clear guide to its use; it also describes routine maintenance procedures and regular checks that should be carried out on the vehicle at an authorised Moto Guzzi Dealer or Workshop, The booklet also contains instructions for simple repairs. Any operations not specifically described in this booklet require the use of special tools and/or particular technical knowledge; for these operations, please take your vehicle to an authorised Moto Guzzi Dealer or Workshop. [. . . ] Introduce the key (1) in the fuel tank cap lock (2). Turn the key anticlockwise, pull and remove the fuel tank cap (2). Once the key (1) is inserted, press the cap to close it again. Act on the adjustment ring nut (1) to adjust the preloading of spring (A) with the relevant hook spanner included in the toolkit pouch. Screw to increase preloading; and vice versa, screw to reduce it. Once the adjustment is done, screw the ring nut (3). Carry out the following checks regularly: Operating the front brake lever, press the handlebar repeatedly to send the fork fully down. The stroke should be soft and there should be no oil marks on the stems. Check the tightening of all the elements and the correct operation of the front and rear suspension joints. Engine run-in is essential to ensure engine long life and correct operation. Twisty roads and gradients are ideal to run in engine, brakes and suspensions effectively. Write down your personal details and telephone number on this page to help identifying the owner in case of vehicle retrieval after a theft. Check oil level by means of the oil dipstick. The oil level is correct when it is close to the 'MAX' mark. Fill with engine oil as required: · When using a funnel or any other element, make sure it is perfectly clean. Top up oil until reaching the correct level. Check the engine oil level on a regular basis. Drain the oil into the container; allow several minutes for oil to drain out completely. Loosen the screw (3) and remove the cover (4). Spread a thin layer of oil on the sealing ring (6) of the new engine oil filter. Fit the new engine oil filter with the spring facing downwards. Refit the cover (4), screw and tighten the screw (3) Check the cardan shaft oil level regularly; change the oil at the specified intervals according to the scheduled maintenance table To check: · Keep the vehicle upright with both wheels on the ground. Using aggressive detergents may damage the surface treatment of these components. Before transporting the vehicle, empty the fuel tank well and make sure it is perfectly dry. [. . . ]
