Dear rider First of all we wish to thank you for choosing this motorcycle of our production. By following the instructions outlined in this manual you will ensure your bike a long and troublefree life. Before riding, please read thoroughly this manual in order to know your motorcycle's features and how to operate it safely. [. . . ] Never use alcohol for flushing or compressed air for drying; we recommend the use of «trichloroethylene» for metal parts. If no suitable lubricant is available, we recommend the light greasing of the rubber and metal parts with brake fluid. Fluid should be handled with care, as it may dissolve paintwork. These operations are best carried out by an authorized dealer. 19) The motorcycle is equipped with shock absorbers with a spring pre-loading adjustment function. To replace the wheel, reverse the disassembly order remembering to insert the calliper plate on the locking screw«A» of the left arm of the swinging fork. Tyres are among those most important to be checked regularly. The vehicle's stability and the rider's comfort and, in some cases, safety all depend on good tyre condition. You are advised not to use tyres with less than 2 mm of tread. incorrect tyre pressures can also cause instability and excessive tyre wear. Tyre pressure levels: front wheel: with one or two riders 2. For continuous use at the maximum speed or on the motorway, you aer advised to increase the front wheel tyre pressure by 0. If a tyre needs replacing, use the same make and type as the tyres supplied originally with the vehicle. Tyre pressure should be measured when tyres are cold. This motorcycle is fitted with steel wheel rims; even though these are very strong they can be damaged both aesthetically and mechanically by the use of incorrect tools when they are removed and fitted. Tyre levers should not have sharp edges or ribbing in those places where they come into contact with the rim; lever contact surfaces should be smooth and edges should be rounded. Use of a suitable commercially available lubricant facilitates tyre removal and fitting therefore making strenuous use of the levers unnecessary. It is important to ensure that the tyre beads settle properly into the central rim groove. Some tyres have an arrow moulded on the sidewall, in these cases the tyres should be fitted as follows: rear wheel: arrow pointing in the running direction; front wheel: arrow pointing in the opposite direction to the running direction. - These instructions should be followed unless otherwise indicated by the tyre manufacturer. ITEMS Engine oil Oil filter cartridge Wire gauze oil filter Air filter Fuel filter Spark plugs Rocker clearance Carburetion Nuts and bolts Fuel tank, cocks filters and pipes Gear box oil Rear drive box oil Wheel and steering bearings Fork legs oil Starter motor and generator Brake systems fluid Brake pads Occasionally, check the battery's electrolyte level, lubricate joints and cables; every 500 km (300 miles) check the engine oil level. In any case, replace the engine oil, the oil filter and the brake fluid, at least once a year. [. . . ] If this is not the case it will be necessary to check the insulation and efficiency of charging and starting equipment; batteries which are stored should be refilled at regular intervals with1/10th of capacity, keeping the level correct or with a specific gravity of 1. 27 at 25°C; the battery should be clamped firmly in place on the vehicle, keeping the anti-vibrations devices active. - In tropical climates (avarege temperature above 33°C) electrolyte specific gravity should be reduced to 1. Avoid contact with skin and eyes as it may cause severe burns. [. . . ]
