To receive these new messages, you must delete some existing messages from your inbox, outbox, or drafts folder. Reading, Locking, or Deleting a Text Message You can open your text message inbox to read, lock, or delete messages at any time. Messages in the text message inbox are sorted from newest to oldest. The oldest messages are deleted automatically as specified by the inbox cleanup setting (see "Setting Up the Text Message Inbox" on page 95). If you want to save a message, you should lock it to prevent it from being deleted during cleanup.
