Each connector can connect to one Seral ATA devce. Important Please do not fold the SATA cable into a 90-degree angle. Otherwise, data loss may occur during transmission. IDE Connector: IDE1 Ths connector supports IDE hard dsk drves, optcal dsk drves and other IDE devces. Important If you install two IDE devices on the same cable, you must configure the drives separately to master / slave mode by setting jumpers. Refer to IDE device's documentation supplied by the vendors for jumper setting instructions. 2-11 Hardware Setup CompactFlash Socket: CF1 Ths socket s provded for CompactFlash (CF) cards. Fan Power Connector: CPU_F1, SYSFAN1 The fan power connectors support system coolng fan wth +12V. When connectng the wre to the connectors, always note that the red wre s the postve and should be connected to the +12V; the black wre s Ground and should be connected to GND. If the manboard has a System Hardware Montor chpset onboard, you must use a specally desgned fan wth speed sensor to take advantage of the CPU fan control. If the chasss s opened, the chasss ntruson mechansm wll be actvated. The system wll record ths status and show a warnng message on the screen. To clear the warnng, you must enter the BIOS utlty and clear the record. With the CMOS RAM, the system can automatcally boot OS every tme t s turned on. If you want to clear the system configuration, set the jumper to clear data. 1 1 1 JBAT1 Normal Clear CMOS Important You can clear CMOS by shorting 2-3 pin while the system is off. Avoid clearing the CMOS while the system is on; it will damage the mainboard. 2-17 Hardware Setup CF Voltage Select Jumper: JP7 Ths jumper s provded for users to select CompactFlash voltage. 1 1 1 JP7 VCC3 VCC5 CF Mode Select Jumper: JP6 Ths jumper s provded for users to select CompactFlash operaton mode. 1 1 1 J6 Master Slave 2-18 MS-96D9 SLot PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) Express Slot The PCI Express slot supports PCI-E nterface expanson cards. PCI Express x4 slot PCI Express x1 slot (optonal) (wth 2 PCIE x1 sgnal, for 4 GbE LAN sku only) Important When adding or removing expansion cards, make sure that you unplug the power supply first. Meanwhile, read the documentation for the expansion card to configure any necessary hardware or software settings for the expansion card, such as jumpers, switches or BIOS configuration. 2-19 Chapter 3 BIOS Setup Ths chapter provdes nformaton on the BIOS Setup program and allows you to configure the system for optmum use. You may need to run the Setup program when: An error message appears on the screen durng the system bootng up, and requests you to run SETUP. You want to change the default settngs for customzed features. 2-3-1 BIOS Setup entering Setup Power on the computer and the system wll start POST (Power On Self Test) process. When the message below appears on the screen, press <DEL> or <F2> key to enter Setup. Press <DEL> or <F2> to enter SETUP If the message dsappears before you respond and you stll wsh to enter Setup, restart the system by turnng t OFF and On or pressng the RESET button. [. . . ] Please note that enablng ths BIOS feature often adds 2-3 seconds of delay to the bootng sequence. Ths delay ensures that the logo s dsplayed for a sufficient amount of time. Therefore, it is recommended that you disable this BIOS feature for a faster boot-up tme. Fast Boot Enablng ths settng wll cause the BIOS power-on self test routne to skp some of ts tests durng bootup for faster system boot. [. . . ]
