Manual abstract: user guide NAD 712

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] The graphic symbol of a lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. If an indoor antenna is used (either built into the set or installed separately), never allow any part of the antenna to touch the metal parts of other electrical appliances such as a lamp, TV set etc. Any outdoor antenna must be located away from all power lines. If an outside antenna is connected to your tuner or tuner-preamplifier, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. [. . . ] The TUNE mode is used to select a known station's frequency, SEARCH mode to automatically look for stations that are transmitting on in your area. TUNE, SEARCH and PRESET functions are available both on the NAD-712's front panel and remote control handset. Two AA (R6) batteries, should be fitted in the battery compartment at the rear of the Remote Control. When replacing batteries, check that they have been put in the right way round, as indicated on the base of the battery compartment. For ease of operation, the main input selection buttons are coloured light gray. please refer to previous sections of the manual for a full description of individual functions. Note: The remote control handset supplied is the NAD universal remote and can be used on any remote controllable NAD system. Not every function on it may be available on your particular unit. sTANDBY Switches the NAD-712 between On and Standby modes. For automatic Search tuning press the MODE button until the SEARCH LED lights up. press the buttons to start the tuner searching through the frequency band. When the tuner finds a broadcast signal of adequate strength, the automatic search will stop at that station. First select the AM or the FM band using the AM or FM buttons. For Manual tuning press the MODE button until the TUNE LED lights up. MUTE Press the MUTE Button to temporarily switch off the sound to the speakers and headphones. the Mute indicator (MUTE) flashes in the Display Panel when the NAD-712 is in Mute mode. Press MUTE again to restore sound Switches NAD-712 to Tuner and pages through the Preset stations on AM or FM. Starts the Tuner Search function, moving up or down the frequency band. selects the Manual Tune function , stepping up or down the frequency band. Increases or decreases the Volume setting using the motorised front panel Volume control. [. . . ] Because NAD amplifiers sound so clean and musical when driven beyond their nominal power ratings and when used to drive low-impedance loudspeakers, you may be tempted to stress your amplifier beyond its design capacity. It can safely and cleanly drive complex speaker impedances with wide-range musical signals whose peak level is 50 watts or more, but it may overheat if called upon to deliver high power CONTINUOUSLY into a low impedance. Thus you may play music at volume levels that cause the brief transient peaks and climaxes in music to exceed the amplifier's rated power by a considerable margin. (With Soft Clipping the music will continue to sound good at those high peak levels. [. . . ]
