" 2-14 Introducing the MobilePro Taking Precautions Read the following battery handling precautions to ensure your safety. Adhere to these warnings when handling batteries. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. Never dispose of batteries by burning them. Do not recharge batteries unless they are specifically designed for recharging. Do not use a battery that is damaged or deformed, has any rust on its casing, is discolored, overheats, or emits a foul odor. Caring for the MobilePro The MobilePro is a durable, dependable unit built for extensive use and travel. Follow these guidelines to maintain the condition and performance of your MobilePro. To prevent injury, immediately turn off and unplug the MobilePro under the following conditions: !! The power cord is damaged or frayed. Someone drops the unit or damages the casing. Introducing the MobilePro 2-15 Precautions Follow these precautions when using your MobilePro and AC adapter. ! Always plug the AC adapter cord into an easily accessible outlet. It is important to be able to easily shut off power by unplugging the AC adapter if needed. Avoid dropping or bumping the MobilePro or the AC adapter. Do not stack heavy objects on the MobilePro or the AC adapter. When using the AC adapter, make sure the power source falls within the unit's compatible range of 100-240 volts AC. Never use the AC adapter if the voltage falls outside of this range. (Watch for this when traveling to other countries. ) Turn off the MobilePro power before attaching or removing devices. Do not push any foreign objects into the MobilePro bays, connectors, and slots. Avoid using the unit or AC adapter for extended periods in direct sunlight. Do not use the unit in humid or dusty environments. [. . . ] Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment. Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate. Note The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface.
