Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin. " Disconnect any cables attached to the add-in board you are removing. Remove the screw that holds the board retaining bracket to the chassis. Hold the board at each end, and carefully rock it back and forth until the edge connectors pull free. Make sure that you do not scrape the board against other components. Store the board in an antistatic wrapper. If you disconnected cables from the board and you are not reinstalling this board or one like it, remove the cables from the system. Install an expansion slot cover over the vacant slot. 1. 7. 4-14 Taking Your System Apart Removing the 3. 5-inch Drive Bay 1. Observe the precautions in "Before You Begin. " Disconnect the power cables and the ribbon data cables from any drives in the bay. Remove the screw that secures the carrier to the 5. 25-inch drive bay (Figure 4-8). " Insert the tabs on the carrier into their slots on the bottom and side of the 5. 25-inch drive bay. Slide the carrier all the way forward until the screw hole in the 5. 25-inch drive bay and the hole in the carrier line up. Insert the screw that secures the carrier to the 5. 25-inch drive bay into its hole and tighten it. If there is a drive in the carrier, attach the power cable and the ribbon data cable to the drive.
