For additional information on how to use this service, see "Two-Way Messaging" in the Nextel Wireless Web User's Guide. 69 Text and Numeric Messaging Text and Numeric Messaging Features With Nextel Text and Numeric Messaging, Nextel will: · Allow numeric messages up to 20 characters in length and text messages up to 140 characters in length. · Accept your messages even if you are unavailable, if your phone is turned off, or if you are busy on another call. · Alert you of a new text or numeric message, even if you are on another call. · Store a message if you are using Nextel Direct Connect and deliver it upon completion of the call. · Store the message if you are outside of the coverage area and deliver it as soon as you are back in a coverage area. · Attempt continuous delivery of messages until successful, for up to 7 days. With Nextel Text and Numeric Messaging, your Nextel phone will: · Refer to text and numeric messages as Message Mail. · Stamp the message with the time and date the message was left. · Store up to 16 messages at a time that will remain until you delete them. NOTE: "Mail Waiting, Memory Full" displays when 16 message registers are full. (Messages must be erased before you can receive others. ) · Allow for "Auto Call Back" of a phone number that is included within a message, by pressing e. If the message contains two phone numbers, Auto Call Back will dial the last number. nextel. com 70 Messaging Services Notification of New Messages When a new message arrives: · "New Mail Read?" displays. · · c flashes at the top of the screen. Phone rings every 30 seconds as an alert/reminder until you press P under "Now" or "Later. " Accessing New Messages When you receive a message, you can view it immediately or later: Viewing a Message Immediately 1 Press P under "Now. " The numbers of new and saved messages display briefly, followed by your first message. Press P under "Read. " If the message fills more than one screen, use s to scroll through the rest of the message. Press P under "Save" to save the message. " The c icon will stop flashing but theu icon will remain on the display to remind you that you have a stored message. 71 Viewing Stored Messages 1 While in Phone mode (see "Modes and Menus" on page 15), press P under "Mail.
